The bride invited over 100 ladies to the shower and I expect a large turnout.
Any suggestions on how to make this go smoothly?
She does not want any games. I think she wants to open presents Will people go nuts sitting thru that?
Anyone else have a large shower that can share some ideas?
TIA

Re: How to manage a HUMUNGOUS (sp?) shower
Since the bride doesn't want any games what about some kind of video collage of pictures of her growing up to music? My mom did that for my shower instead of having games. People seemed to like it.
IMO about keeping attention during gifts: I have been to a bunch of showers and there seems to be a reoccurring theme at each one. Some guests will be attentive to every detail of every present that the bride gets, most guests will watch for a while and then chat with the people at their table for a while, and a couple of guests will only watch their gift being opened. It is inevitable.
At one shower I went to the MOB actually spend a majority of the time walking around from table to table with different gifts to show everyone things that the bride had received. It gave everyone especially the people who sat further away a chance to see the detail of some of the gifts and it kept everyone's interest.
Sorry that my not have been exactly what you were looking for, but I hope that helps a little.

Break up the gift opening, if that is what the bride wants to concentrate on. Between the meal and cake, open a batch of gifts. Then have dessert, and open the rest of the gifts.
Someone records all the gifts. Another tapes the cards to the gifts. Another moves the gifts out of the way.
HAve fun.

I agree, depending on how your meals are set up-whether there will be appetizers, salad, etc.
Do gifts after appetizer/salad...hang for a little bit...do more gifts after the mail course...hang out...and more gifts after cake.
Have one BM record gifts, one hand the gifts to the bride and one to take them away. What we did for recording gifts was write the gifts that person gave ont he back of the cards.

Re: How to manage a HUMUNGOUS (sp?) shower
My daughter did not want Games either. We had about 65 people at the shower. We did do some fun stuff and she said it was fine after it was over. We had the toilet paper wedding dress contest. the guess how many kisses in the jar and 2 minutes whichever gift she held up the person who brought it got a prize. I bought things from the dollar store. We used a kitchen time and one of the bridesmaids was in charge of that. Also because it was a large amount of women we had the bridesmaids open the gifts and then give it to the bride and she held it up for everyone to see. Many of the ladies brought their chairs up closer and sat in a semi circle. Hope this helps a little.

My friend had 90 people and did a 'wrap your gift in cellophane' thing....The gifts looked gorgeous! She opened all the cards and held up the gifts!
Another shower I went to with 65 people....all the BM had presents ready to go....cards opened, bows off and helped the bride tear everything open. Went fast!!!!
