Re: How to start Scrapping?
A crop is where a bunch of scrapbookers (could be 2-300 people) get together, usually at a church, VFW hall, hotel, bring all their supplies, albums and pictures and work on their scrapbook pages. Its a way to not only get some quality scrapping time but to also meet people that share your passion and exchange ideas!!
If you want to start scrapping...just a little advice, dont go out and buy everything thats out there. You will go broke and not use half of the stuff.
Basic supplies that you need:
album (8.5 x 11 or 12x12)
paper (both 8.5 x11 and 12x12)
paper trimmer
scissors
acid free adhesive (glue stick, glue pen or photo splits)
pictures
stickers
embellishments (3-D stickers, tags)
Check out various scrapbooking sites to get ideas

Two Peas in a Bucket
Remember...its your memories that you are preserving. Make your album how you want....

Re: How to start Scrapping?
I LOVE all the new embellishments and stuff. When I started doing it years ago, they didnt have all the stuff they do now..but now its so expensive. I would love to just go crazy. But another piece of advice as far as cost goes...they sell the embellishments in the scrapbooking aisles for SOOO much..shop around for similiar things for less. I buy beads and ribbons and even brads and things to use to make it original in the other sections of the craft store..funny it's cheaper there...lol

Re: How to start Scrapping?
Gabrielle,if you are into Photos - You will Love it,
its very addictive and you just want to buy everything.
when you are buying your supplies definitely go to michaels, every week they have a 40% off coupon in there flyer, usually in the paper, I get one mailed to me, so for bigger priced items use this,
I think this week for the veterans Holiday they have a 50% off coupon, for Thursday and friday only,
would be good to use for paper trimmer.
if I hear of any crops, I will keep you posted.
I started on my own, never went to any classes or anything,
then last year went on a weekend retreat with cousin, first every Crop, I loved it, it lets you get alot done.
enjoy and let me know if you need any help

Re: How to start Scrapping?
I just started one day with some of my pics and it grew form there I am always trying new things and experimenting. Pick up an issue of Creating Keepsakes or Scrapbooks Etc, they have great idea. Or even take a class at MIchaels or Scrapbook Cottage in Levittown. THe main idea is to have fun with it. It is my stress reliever
