Are you going to Borough Hall? The 4 or the 5 will get you there along with the N or R. The stop is Court street, it is right there. Are you coming from LI OR Manhattan?

you can take the N or the R to Borough Hall, but I'm not sure if there's one closer, but that's the area.

Which court, Theresa?
When I had jury duty at US district court, I took the F to Jay Street/Boro Hall (A and C also stop there). It's a short walk to Cadman Plaza. The M, N and R stop at Clark St/Boro Hall, also in the area. I don't know the number trains as well...

Re: How to take the train to BKLYN
Theresa, if you are going to the Small Claims/Civil Court on Livingston and Smith Streets I suggest you take the A/C trains and take it to Jay Street Borough Hall. If you sit in the FRONT of the train, you will exit at Fulton and Jay Street and it's a 2 block walk from there to Livingston.
The N/R, 4/5 put you at the Supreme Courthouse on Adams/Court Streets and it's a little of a hike to the Livingston Courthouse espcially if you don't know the neighborhood that well.
just saw Stef's post - the F/A/C also stops at JayStreet - it's a better way to go.

Good luck!
If you're there during lunch, My Little Pizzeria on Court St (and Atlantic) is AWESOME.
