We've gotten some cash engagement gifts and I was wodnering what they're supposed to be used for. Are they for paying for the wedding, ro do we save them for after the wedding to buy stuff? I mean, I know it's our $ and our discretion, but what's usually done?
ETA: We didn;t have a aprty either, but fmaily has sent a few checks. So far we've just used them to start our first joint account, which is exciting!

we didnt have an eparty but some people sent us $$ we gave it to the hall when we booked.

We opened a joint account with the money and have been using it for the wedding. So far we paid for pre-cana, used it for the down payment at the hall, and a photo downpayment.
ETA: We didnt have an e-party - family just sent us cards. We are just letting the rest of the $$ sit there for when we see a guest book or other little items we want.

We did not have a party but most of my family gave us a e-gift (and it was cash). So we decided into the wedding account and used it to leave deposits and pay for some wedding things.

We used to money for wedding stuff. We'll be dipping into the last of it to make the next payment for our band. Oh well, easy come easy go.

I would say definitely use it towards the wedding. Thats what we did and even though we had that 'extra' cash we are coming down to the wire and are still short. You can never have enough money!

We used some towards the wedding, we paid for the dj, but we really wanted a kitchen aid mixer my fi wanted... It's a gift, use it for whatever you want

we got $$$$$ and gifts. We didn't open a joint account yet so it is in one of my savings accounts by itself hahaah MIne!!! jk
i don't know what to do with it.. maybe we will use it towards our honeymoon or buy the remaining stuff on our rgistry or who knows
