Basically our ceremony starts at 11am, with reception following. We're not trying to be super formal here, so we don't think it's it's necessary to wear a suit. Shirt and tie should be fine for the men. We're not looking for evening gowns for the ladies, a dress or dress pants with a nice top would be fine. How can I word this on my invites? Thanks.

Re: how to word dress code for my wedding.
I have the same issue with my wedding ... its not formal so its not black tie but I still want people to be dressed appropriately ... I wont need to send out invitation for a while but i think mine will say 'Cocktail Attire'

I think 'cocktail attire' means suits and cocktail dresses.
In general, people dress the way you're looking for when they go to a wedding. You don't actually have to put anything on the invitations to indicate that they should wear nice clothing if you don't want them in gowns and tuxes. No one is going to wear jeans to your wedding.
Not on LI at least.
