A friend of mine (a guy) just told me that his mother is going to lend his fiance her garter from her wedding for thier wedding. And they are doing to garter tradition. So he is going to be taking his mother's garter off his bride at the wedding.
He says its a really nice garter and its sentimental, but I think of the garter tradition as a sexy thing. And it would skeeve me out to be wearing my FMIL's anything at the wedding!

Uhhh....even if the garter thing was not perceived as a sexy moment, than this is still weird, and totally inappropriate.

Just so we're clear -- he's taking the garter off his BRIDE, but the garter originally belonged to his mom.
In any case -- still creeped out.
But it makes me think what sort of 'borrowed' things also fall under the inappropriate category.
