How would you feel not spending your B-day with DH/FH?

How would you feel not spending your B-day with DH/FH?

I was offered a chance to see the Producers- and have dinner, but it is a work related thing and I cannot bring hubby. It is on my birthday.

I declined, but they told me to ask my hubby if it is ok to go without him. I refuse, because I know what his answer would be. I really want to see this show.

I hope my DH does something good for my B-day to make up for it.

What would you do?

I wouldn't want to go. I know its a popular show but can you possibly get tickets for you and DH for some other time?

This is how I feel.

I do not want to go with out him. The ticket is free and so is dinner. I was invited by a station I buy commercial time for, however my Dh can't come as they are limited with tickets.

I guess I will have to purchase it myself

I'd go I think. I make a big deal about birthdays and he doesn't, so usually whatever we do for mine is a let down!!!

I would want to spend the evening with DH. Plus he would be devestated if I wanted to do a work thing on my birthday, especially an awsome non-required work thing.

I wouldn't want to go.. Birthdays are VERY big in my family and I've made it a very big thing with DH and I just couldn't not be with him on my or his birthday.

I act like a 4 year old on my BDay and it's such a big deal to me, LOL!!! DH is too. I couldn't imaging not celebrating that day with him. JMHO

This is tough, see I'm used to FH working nights so I would have loved an offer like yours.

But if he's going to be around and this will be your first bday as newlyweds I'd say stay home with him. Maybe he can get you tickets for the two of you to go see something together

This is my first birthday as a married woman.

You know what I have ALWAYS made a big deal about how we should spend our B-days with each other ON THE DAY. It is a nice offer, but I had to pass on it.

unfortunately, i've spent more holidays and bdays apart from FH then together b/c of his job (cop) so i'm quite used to it.
but i guess it makes the events that he is able to be around for more exciting. like just a few minutes ago he called me and told me he is working an earlier shift tomorrow and now he can go to our friends surprise party with me. i get all excited about these little things

My $.02
Id have gone.. only if it had fallen on a weekday. If Jim had found out about it he would have wanted me to go. Pushed it no less.

Why? Cause he's devious!!! He'd have used that time to plan something specatular for the upcoming weekend.

If it was a weekend I'd really have to ask him first. Usually he says nothing about his plans but if I had a situation he'd let me know what was what and I'd make the choice. Jim comes first of course. Then again.. he COULD still do the 'go ahead without me' routine. He's really good at planning stuff to make me smile and he actually has fun doing stuff behind my back. Which is hard since, afterall we live together and are always together.

And happy Birthday in any case!

I'm not sure but I may have taken them up on the offer for dinner and the Producers and told DH that we'd have to celebrate my bday another night...and then I'd have 2 nice nights from it!!!

mad as all get out, especially since Roger knows how important b-days are to me, I take the day off, I order a cake and I usually go away on a trip so, you see how serious this is.

Kysha, the producers will be there, glad you made the wise choice. Maybe hubby will surprise you and stand on the tkts line and get you really good orchestra seats for $26

PS you only get to do it once
