Basically, the whole reception is one me. I have saved my whole life and that is where that is coming from. My parents, who I know are struggling emotionally because they cannot help as much as they want to or feel they need to are giving us a small- very small in the grand scheme of it all- amount to help us. I've basically used it to pay the photographer and it is much appreciated. His mom is recently widowed and has not offered to give us anything towards the wedding. However, she has allowed us to do construction on her house so that we have a place to live and will have our own downstairs apartment (whether she knows it or not- half of the reason to do that was because she is older and has trouble walking and we need to be close.
Point being... HOW do we phrase the invites? I feel that really WE are hosting this wedding. I feel like my parents should have their names stating that they request the honor of your prescense ... but then I feel that we are leaving out his mom... actually singling her out.
What would you do? How would you phrase this?

How would you phrase the invites? - Long Island Weddings
We're paying for the entire wedding ourselves, no help from anyone, so we're saying that WE request the pleasure of your company...
But the best way to do it if you want to include everyone is to say 'Together with their families...'

We are in a similar situation where my FIL's have given us a small amount of money towards the wedding but mine paid for college and won't be contributing. We are hosting the wedding soooo... We were thinking either 'together with their families' or 'Renee X daughter of Mr. and mrs. X and Nicholas Y son of Mr. and Mrs. Y invite you to join us...'

We are paying for the wedding almost entirely ourselves. We wanted our parents names on the invites as respect to them but wanted it to be clear we are hosting so ours said
Kristin Marie daughter or mr. & mrs. XYZ & Michael Dominick son of mr. ABC and mrs. DEF

This was agonizing for me too.
Jane Doe and John Doe together with their families request the honor of your presence at their marriage.....
We wanted our names to appear first on the invite and as a courtesy to my parents put together with their families.

My FH and I are paying for this wedding ourselves. As much as i'd like to make it clear on the wedding that we're hosting it, out of respect for both of our parents, they'll all be on the invite. I'm looking at it more of our parents got us to where we are in life, so they need to be 'requesting the honor'.
Ours says 'Mr + Mrs BridesLastName and Mr. + Mrs GroomsLastName request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their children: Caitlyn + Michael'

I'm in a similar situation as you, my parents are going through a rough time and can't afford to help as much as they would have liked and fh parents were able to give a lot more so we are paying a good majority.I didn't want to insult anyone so we are planning to put our names first and then together with our parents and writing their names. You could also do: Jane doe Daughter of ____ And John Smith Son of ____ That way their names are there if that's what you wanted.

You guys are so helpful. <3 I like together with our families and I like naming their names with ours first so at least I have something to decide between now.

We are also paying for everything by ourselves. Originally, we had 'Together with our parents we request the honor of your presence...' but when FH saw the proof he hated it. He had originally wanted that wording as the invitation woman suggested it. We ended up changing it to our parents names on the invitation, as we felt as though it was the 'right' thing to do even though we are paying. It's a personal preference but I don't really mind what other people think in terms of who is paying and who isn't.

This is pretty much what we are doing too!

This If you feel 'honour of your presence' is too much, then there is always 'share in our joy'
