I am seriously addicted to this website. How can I tell? I bought a laptop on e-bay so that when my FH kicks me off the computer to do work I will go on the laptop. Since I bought a cheap one I now have to buy the wireless card and the router. Does anyone know anything about this stuff?

haha!!! i am so addicted to this website as well!!!! Anyway, I have all that stuff but FH did everything. He used to work for Best Buy so he knows a lot about that stuff, I'm sure if you go there they will be able to help you out. If you have any problems let me know and I will ask FH. Good Luck!!!

haha FH the programmer said that if you dont have a router then the cheapest ones you can find are called wireless g routers. Then you need to buy the appropriate PCMIA card to go into the if it does not have internal wireless. If it does then you don't need the card.
Look on slickdeals.net for a good price

FH knows nothing about that stuff and neither do i... i DO however know that if the laptop you bought is new enough, it MAY have wireless capability WITHOUT the card... I bought a card for my laptop for like $60 and as it turns out, i didnt even need it because there's a feature inside the computer that lets you connect to wireless internet without the card.
It was one of the really craptastic computers from staples for like $495 too, so I was surprised.
Before you waste money on something you dont need, check to see if it has internal wireless capability. :)

that is too funny, ive would have done the same thing...
I know I need the card because it is probably older than time and in the specs it didn't have one. It seems like I just need to get the router and the card. Looks like I'll be at bestbuy on Thursday night since according to the UPS tracking I should get it on Thursday!
