We will be moving around a lot so I am hoping to pack as little as possible but I don't know what to wear! Any ideas?

Re: HR- What do you pack for Italy?
when are you going, and where are you going to be?
If you're going in the summer, it's VERY hot. Light, floaty skirts, shorts, tank tops/t-shirts, etc.
If you're going to Rome and want to see the Vatican, remember to bring a light shawl to toss over your shoulders if you're going to wear something sleeveless (which you probably will if you're there in the summer). In order to go into the Vatican, you must have your shoulders covered. Men must be wearing pants, and women must have either pants or a modest-length skirt.
Other than that... give some more specifics and maybe we can help more!
edit: oh, and when you say 'move around a lot' what are you planning on doing?

We are going at the very end of August/beginning of September. We are flying into Zurich and then going to different cities (not entirely determined yet) and leaving from Rome.

I mainly wore capris and nice tops. I wore a dress once and a skirt once. I mainly wore tevas or sneakers during the day and I had a comfy pair of dressy sandals for the evening. I brought a wrap for my shoulders for going into churches and cathedrals. I went in June and it was 95 every day, but I think even if I were wearing shorts I would have been uncomfortable. HTH
