Huffman Koos out of business

Just wanted tolet you all know that Huffman Koos filed for bankruptcy and they all are having sales - everything must go. It's still pricey but great for those looking for quality furniture at cheaper prices.....

I think there is one on route 110 on the suffolk/nassau border. It may be Melville or Farmingdale (farmingville?? i always get the 2 towns mixed up)

let me just tell you my husband and i bought a bedroom set from there in july. was told the bed and armoire were in and the night table would be in that week. i find out the day after i put a nice deposit down that they were in bankrupcy. the sales guy kept pushing we pay cash and get an additional 10% off. well now we are out of the deposit and they keep giving us the run around. we have not bedroom set and no cash.

Very interesting!
We just got a new sofa & recliner from them in Jan - they were having one of their sales where you can buy now and no interest accrues for 2 years.

Hopefully they will still honor the agreement, i was counting on not having to have it all paid off for awhile yet (making small payments each month)

but thanks for the info!

You should be ok. Normally when companies do financing like this they use a 3rd party company to finance. If they haven't notified you yet, you should be ok.

Re: Huffman Koos out of business

that's true. The company had already farmed out its receivables to someone else (HK hasn't been the one billing me, 'Retail Services' has).

So no news is good news :) Thanks for the reassurance

... and they keep giving us the run around. ...

That sounds so typical of this company!!

I am so truly sorry you're going through this! They made me sick for nearly 1 year with the problems I had with them.

As far as I'm concerned .. no sale at this company is/was worth the risk of the lousy 'customer service' from each and every department within that lousy organization.

I have to agree. I got my dining room and living room set from them and it was a nightmare. The glass piece for my coffee table get being delivered broken. It took 6 months before I got it and they tried to make me pay for the table before I got the glass piece. Like I could actually use it! Needless to say that did not happen!

Re: Huffman Koos out of business

My parent's told me this weekend that they always had success at Huffman Koos and the quality was great UNTIL they had new ownership a couple of years ago. They said they weren't surprised that under the new owners they were going under.

I am still going to look tomorrow for a dining room set.

Yeah, That was where we always got our furnityure... but NOW their customer service did suck!... BUT for around $900, we got a dinining room table, with 6 chairs, and a slef storing leaf (which can hold easilly 8 people, maybe 10)... YOU can't beat it!!!... I've been looking ALL over for this type of table, and for the right price, in the right color... so it was worth it!!!!!

THAT SUCKS!!!! My FI and I ordered a bedroom set from them on July5 BUT we opened a HK charge and put the deposit on our visa. I was so PISSED. The salespeople were no help! I contested the charge with my credit card company and they refunded our money.

I'm sorry they have been giving you so much trouble!!!
