When it comes to showing love, fully 90 percent of us give a hug to feel connected and close to others, according to the results of a poll conducted by Harris Interactive and Lever 2000. Nearly 60 percent of the 1,000 U.S. adults polled said they hug someone or receive a hug more than once a day, and more than half of us give hugs five times more than we give kisses.
So who are our main squeezes?
Spouses: 29 percent
Boyfriends/Girlfriends: 28 percent
Children: 24 percent
Mom: 4 percent
The dog: 4 percent
When asked who needs a hug more than anyone else, the responses were:
The U.S. Armed Forces: 42 percent
Enron employees: 17 percent
President George W. Bush: 9 percent
