Re: HUntington Townhouse - - Any comments??

I heard from my Mother-in-Law and hubby that the food was horrible. I don't know myself because I never been there but they went to a wedding there.

I recall there were a few posts on HT. Try a search. I don't think many were positive.

I agree with the tacky comment. Plus, I've heard its not cheap. If you're going to spend the money there are tons of better choices - tell her good luck!

Re: HUntington Townhouse - - Any comments??

I don't know anyone that has been to an affair there recently and I know they are under new ownsership (I think for the past 2 years now) but before all the changes, I've heard that everything there was very good.

Re: HUntington Townhouse - - Any comments??

My brother got married there several years ago and everything was great. But since the new owners took over, I've heard all bad things about them. I've heard that the service and food is not good now. Before booking anything, check with the Better Business Bureau. You can check places out on line.

Re: HUntington Townhouse - - Any comments??

I went to a wedding there in 2/2000 and everything was great. I was actually in the BP and the people who worked there were really great, everything ran smoothly and I can't remember any complaints about the food or anything else. I don't know when these new owners took over, but as of 2/00, it was great. I have heard there are different BPs running into each other, but I didn't see any others and we had a room that was far from the others so we were not aware of any other receptions.

Re: HUntington Townhouse - - Any comments??

Just a little background first - I'm having 2 receptions due to ethnic differences. They are one of the few pretty places that I know that will cater Indian food.

So far they have been really nice and accommodating, with one exception - avoid the salesperson named Ellen Rose. We found her very rude and insulting. Elliot, the president, and his son are both wonderful to work with. I don't know about their other people.

They have a bunch of different places that you can cater food from, so the food might really vary based on what you chose. Keep in mind that the catering restaurant will charge you an additional per head charge.

The other reception will be at The Harbor Club and they have been really wonderful. Everyone there has been terrific. Of course, I have been dealing with them longer, but there does seem to be a difference between the 2 places.

That's really all I can say for now since we're in the planning stages yet...

Re: HUntington Townhouse - - Any comments??

I went there to a wedding in April. The salad was brown and wilted, and, worst of all, they never gave the bridal party any food in the bridal suite. When they were done taking pictures and came back to the cocktail hour, there was no food left and they were starving.

The wedding was also very understaffed. People had to wait a long time for their food and the bartenders didn't know all the ususal drinks. One had to be told how to make a Shirley Temple for one of the kids.

The vienesse hour display was nice and the desserts were OK, but the waitresses manned those tables so there was no one to distribute coffee or wedding cake to the tables.

However, while we noticed these things, the bride was happy with the wedding (all except for the no food in the suite).

Re: HUntington Townhouse - - Any comments??

I've heard not so good things about it. The company I used to work for had their christmas party there and I didn't care for the food. I also went a prom there. Can't remember that night for some strange reason!
