I was directed to this site from another when i had a question about huntington townhouse. we just booked it this week .. unfortunately i'm in California so i wasnt able to see it. but ive heard really good things about it. i saw a lot of negative comments on this site - but most had to do with food.
we're having indian food catered so that's not a problem. are there any positive comments/advice .. or anything majorly negative that doesn't have to do with the food?
Also, any clue how their desserts or cakes are?

If it makes you feel better there were two people on the train the other night talking about two different weddings they hat just attended there and they said they were really nice.

I was just there for a party this weekend, and although the food wasn't great - the place is fine. The room for the coctail hour has a nice atrium feel and th ereception room itself was roomy.

I have never been there before but I have heard a lot of negative. I know that they are resonable, so I was going to look at it until I heard what everyone had to say. I would definetely check with BBB. I know you already booked it though.

a friend of mine from work is indian and she did the same thing with the food that you are doing....she was very happy with the place...

If you are staying away from the food you should be fine. The rooms are big and nice.
Be very specific about your expectations on customer service. I was there early this year and the service staff left a lot to be desired. For example they refued to let a disabled wheelchair bound guest stop in front of the entry. They had her park and be wheeled uphill by her son! If she were alone she would never have been able to handle that hill.

My only issue with the Huntington Townhouse is that there are so many rooms, there are multiple functions (3 or 4) going on at the same time. It leads to bathroom issues, parking issues, and staff-service issues.

I haven't heard good things...I'm sorry to report. They could have just had a bad experience though which doesn't necessarily mean you will also. A positive thing is that you are having the food catered so you won't have to worry about that. I'm sure it will work out in your favor though...Good luck!

Other than Indian restaurants, as far as I know there are only 2 halls on LI to have an Indian reception and you picked the good one! I'm Bengali and we're having 2 receptions (American and Bengali) and we picked the Huntington Town House for our Bengali reception. The place itself is very pretty and I think that the grandness of it suits the Indian/Bengali cultures well. There are a number of functions there at the same time, but that didn't really matter to me... They have a lot of Indian receptions and are really working to cater to the culture more. I was talking to Elliot (the president) and he is going to India to get a better feel of the culture!
I was going to say that I'll let you know how our reception goes, but I think I'm going to be there the day after you! (7/6/03 is our reception date) Good luck! I'm sending you some forum mail...
