Hurricane This Summer?

My mom just told me she heard they are predicting a severe hurricane will hit the east coast some time this summer.

Has anyone else heard this???

they say that every year- how could they possibly know what storms are going to form and where

they can't even predict the 5 day forcast right

I see no point in stressing out over something that may or may happen- it's a threat every hurrican season

they predicted like 3 massive ones, but i thought they were like mostly the gulf coast and the carolinas....I don't hold much truth to it....they are so wrong so often, i am done listening until a storm has actually formed.

which 5 months from now- they said today was only going to be cloudy - and it's raining- how could they possibliy predict what going to happen 5 months from thursday-- they can't even prodict whats going to happen thursday May 18th

don't stress over this

they all say 'we're due'...

the ocean temps are warm. the trends are kind of heading this way. But nothing really for sure. don't start panicking yet. They can't even get TODAY'S weather right!

I am not worrying about this in the least bit b/c, as the above posters said, I don't believe that they can possibly predict something like this so far in advance. Don't stress, our day will be beautiful!!!!!

I 100000% agree...they NEVER get the weather right in a 5 day forecast, let alone 5 months out!

I'm not stressing over it, I was just wondering if anyone else heard about it.

Yes, I heard this, too. I really hope it's not one of those summers
where it rains every weekend. But I have no right to complain about weather. I was a March bride with a 55 degree day and sunshine...when there was a snow and ice storm the week before!

I'd heard that... although not for this summer, just that there would be a major one some time in the next few years, because of ocean temperatures or something like that.

Here's hoping it turns out to be not as big a deal as they make out. The media thrives so much on inciting fear... there's no point in letting them get you worked up unless it actually happens.

I heard this too. Its very scary. One of my teachers in college told me that if we had a category 5 everything south of sunrise could be under water. I dont know if thats true, but it still scares me.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

omg i was thinking the SAME thing and you wrote it for me!!! hahahah... it's so true, every year they are like OMG we are all going to die: earthquakes, bird flu, sars, anthrax-- and after katrina: hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis-- GEEZ, i know it happens and can devastate areas which is terrible but they make people FREAK out and then 99% of the time--nothing happens.
the five day forecast-- that's so funny!!!!!
i'm just going to hope that everything will be fine and i'm sure it will. the second we don't have a huge storm for a few years and all of a sudden we are due for the apocalypse?!!!

but yes i have heard about it-- and i hope nothing comes of it... i don't want anyone's wedding to be ruined and of course homes, property, etc.
