Hyatt Windwatch in Hauppauge
Has anyone booked or have used Hyatt Windwatch? We looked at it this weekend and loved it. It's such a nice hotel but haven't found out the prices yet. Looks like it might be expensive. Also do you know if they hand out giftbags? And do you know how late the bar stays open? Any info would be helpful! Thanks so much!

Re: Hyatt Windwatch in Hauppauge
my best friend had her wedding at the hamlet (2 years ago) and then we stayed overnite in the windwatch. it wasnt too bad, like 150 a nite and i think that was a block of rooms as well. the bar stayed open till 4 am (i think i did have a lot to drink) but her family was from ireland, so they were there pretty late drinking. i think that is one reason she chose the hamlet b/c of the windwatch and she had a lot of OOT. it was a nice hotel, but the fire alarm went off at 3 am.

Re: Hyatt Windwatch in Hauppauge
Hi ..I just received a copy of the contract from Doris. We want to book the Hyatt for our wedding on October 10, 2009, but I was taken aback as soon as I read the contract. Please see some stipulations from the contract that seem very unfair.
-------------------
DEPOSITS
A deposit of $3,000.00 is required on 10/20/08.
A deposit of $3,000.00 is required on 1/20/09.
A deposit of $3,000.00 is required on 5/20/09.
The balance is due 10 prior to the Wedding.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Either the Hotel or Group may cancel this contract without cause at any time prior to the event by paying to the other party liquidated damages (agreed not to constitute a penalty based on the following scale:
More than six (6) months from arrival date - 50%
Less than six (6) months to one (1) month from arrival date - 75%
Less than one (1) month up to arrival date -100%
Cancellations made under this provision shall be made by the canceling party to the non-canceling party by written notice and payment of the liquidated damages due at that time.
EVENT ROOM
The Hotel reserves the right to assign another room for the Customer's functions in the event the room originally designated for such function shall be unavailable or inappropriate, in the Hotel's sole opinion.
------------------------------
As you can see, the payment schedule is very stiff. Lessing's schedule shows that a payment of 25% has to be provided 45 days before the event. Also, the cancellation policy says that the hotel can cancel the event without any cause. Payment for other vendors are not even enough to cover the damages this situation would cause. And on top of that, they can cancel 1 month before the event!
Can you possibly let me know if these stipulations appeared in your contract? They're not being fair and are not comparable with the other reception places?
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
