Re: hydrangeas???
I too love hydrageas and am using them for my centerpieces (with other flowers). They are expensive. I was surprised because they grow like crazy. I booked my florist and she didn't try to steer me away from using them, so I'm sure they hold up well. I'll include a pic that I am modeling my centerpieces after. Mine will be different colors though...more green hydrangeas instead of pink.
I took one of the centerpieces home Saturday afternoon and they still look great right now. They just need to be well hydrated, I think it helps if your florist splits the stems or something...

Re: hydrangeas???
i am using them and Designer Florals is spraying them so that they are more of a teal/aqua color for me.
hydrangeas are my most favorite flower ever! i wanted them in the boks, but the florist burst my bubble....they said since its a 'hearty stem' that it requires a lot of water-so its not great for boks....better off in a cp. i say go for it!

I agree...i've seen bo-ks die really quickly if they have hydrangeas....but i'm sure the cps will look great bc they're in water

Re: hydrangeas???
i talked to my banquet manager today and she said she had a bride a few months back that had hydrangeas as a bouquet and they completely died between the church and reception hall. they dry out too quickly so she said if anyone would wanna use them to put water cup things on the bottoms of each stem
this brides centerpieces were predominantly hydrangea. I was at this wedding and they help up amazingly well. No problems at all.

Re: hydrangeas???
I personally got two centerpieces made up and the hydrangeas died with in a few hours or the next day. I refused to use them at first again even though i love them. Then my florist said it is because they were put in these little green caps that hold water in them. The hydrangeas DRINK a lot of water so they got dried out within a few hours.
I have seen them at a summer wedding and they have wilted near the end of the reception. But last night they were used in centerpieces and man they are still holding up even in this heat in my livingroom. I just have to keep filling them with water about twice a day. So i think as long as they are in a good amount of water.. you really don't need to worry.

I love looking at these flowers, they are amazing. I am having them in my CP's in white. I just love the fullest, delicate, look to them.

Re: hydrangeas???
I love the hydrandeas...i wanted to use them as my e-party centerpieces but once I talked to the florist I decided otherwise.
They only last about a day and they have to be in water, plus they are in season during the summer so if you get them in the fall or winter, the bloom is not as full therefore you will need to get more than you might expect.

Re: hydrangeas???
I will say this even though its an old thread, because I know many women like to use these.
VERY FRAGILE! My best friend used them for her BM bouquets last week and it was a disaster. I mean they looked ok but started to die within an hour and the florist was sloppy. What they ddi was make em look hand tied but they filled baggies with water then rubberbanded them around the base. Well, when we were walking, we tripped down the steep hills (outdoor lakeside wedding) and me and another girl tipped our bouqets upside down and spilled ALL THE WATER out over our dresses MINUTES before the ceremony.... it was awful. If you do want to use them as a Bo-k, MAKE SURE the florist knows how to keep them hydrated win a way that won't ruin your pictures.
