Hypno-birthing????

Hi ladies,

Has anyone ever done or plan on trying HypnoBirthing??

It's a training that you take while you're pregnant to learn how to handle the labor mentally, so that you will not need drugs. it's a form of self-hypnosis. They say women who are successful with it have faster, easier labors, require less if any drugs, and their newborns are quieter and more content in the nursery.

Just curious....

I am always willing to discuss this.
I just had class #2 on Monday. It was GREAT. I plan on posting a full 'review' after the classes are all done.
I take them with Donna Burke at
www.harmonicpathways.com

Here is one example of something that happened:
I have severe nerve compression problems in my left front thigh- I mean, it hurts like HEL all the time now. Sometimes if I just move the pain shots through my body with such force. Anyway, we did a mediation/relaxation exercise for 20 minutes. I was totally aware of her voice and where I was BUT I felt NO pain the entire time. In fact, I was so relaxed that when she said for the women to 'lift your left leg but it is very, very heavy' I didn't even move. I heard her voice, but chose not to move my leg since I was pain-free for the first time in days. My husband said he has never seen me so relaxed.
But the minute she said 'now open your eyes on the count of 3' I did.

Ask any questions....

Re: Hypno-birthing????

I would really LOVE to hear all about your experience with this Michelle. Please keep us posted!!

If I decide to have a baby, I absolutely want to try HypnoBirthing. I really believe in the power of the mind, and want to approach the labor process wholistically. Either that, or knock me out completely! Getting a needle and catheter in my spine is NOT for me.

I also found out recently that an epidural becomes less effective just around the time you start pushing. They time it this way because you need more feeling in order to be able to push effectively. So in my opinion, what's the point if it's only going to wear off when you need it most!
