Hypothetical question regarding Katrina

I know this is a sad topic, but I was having this discussion with several coworkers recently and those with pets totally understood what I mean and those without think I am crazy.

Here's the question:

If you were in a situation where you had to evacuate your home like those poor people down south, would you leave without your pets or would you stay behind and find another way out with them later?

I dont think I could have left my dog. She cries and cries if I leave for an hour or two and gives me that look like she did something wrong for me to leave I could never live with myself for the rest of my life seeing her face as I walked out the door never to see her again. I mean I would never sacrafice another human life (other than taking my own chances staying with her) to save her, but if my family was able to leave and I could stay behind with my dog I would.

What would you do?

Definitely couldn't leave part of the family behind. If in the theoretical future we had kids, I'd send my partner out with the kids in the rescue and I'd stay with the pets until I could figure a way out.

Along these lines, everyone should be sure to pack pet food/necessities and extra water in your emergency kits in case you need to leave home in a hurry!

I couldnt even imagine leaving her!
I felt horrible when we went to Jamaica and left her with my dad for a week knowing she was safe and sound! It would kill me if I didnt know what had come of her when I left!

Leaving him would NOT be an option. Its not something I'd even have to think for one second on.

If someone told me i COULDN'T bring my dogs i would punch them in hte face.

would you tell a woman she has to leave her infant behind? i think not.

to me, they are no different. they are my children.
