Hysterical baby at ceremony..........

Hysterical baby at ceremony..........

I was just looking for feedback out of curiousity. It has come to my attention that one of DH's nieces was screaming her head off for awhile during the ceremony. I did notice some commotion but was so ecstatic/nervous/overwhelmed I didn't make an issue of it.

What is funny is that this was always one of my mom's pet peeves. I always remembered her telling me that if a child causes a commotion during an important ceremony (such as a wedding) for an extended period the mom or dad should take the child out for a breather. I really really feel the same. Any opinions on this? Or has this happened to anyone else? I am starting to get really annoyed because in my current state I am remembering just how loud she really was? Am I alone in feeling like this?

Yes that would annoy the crap out of me. Its so distracting. Please go outside if your kid gets out of hand.

Damm... now I realize that one of the bridesmaids will have a newborn there (3-5 months probably). I wonder who will be taking care of the baby while she is on the altar.

Yikes!

If the child if not behaving appropriately, then he or she should be removed as to not disturb the event.

That's why I am not allowing babies. It would really piss me off, even if not at the time, but watching the video later. You would hope the people would be considerate enough to leave with the baby, but some people are so oblivious...

I would leave the church with the baby. It is just plain rude to sit there with the screaming child.

This is why I did 'adults only' - youngest kids there will be 13. However, even though she knows how I feel about kids in the church, one of my BMs is having her Mom bring the baby to chruch - this baby is nothing but a screaming machine...but what can I do?? I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping that the Mother will have enough sense to leave the church when she starts screaming.

Unfortunately, you can't ban ANYONE from showing up @ the ceremony if you're getting married in a public place (like church)
But that whole screaming baby thing is my hugest pet peeve.
My cousin was sitting behind me and my sister at another cousin's wedding. - Her kid was screaming and carrying on and just pretty much just ignored him.........WHAT ???
So, yeah, people do it. - and it's so unbelievable rude !!

Re: Hysterical baby at ceremony..........

At my friend's wedding last weekend there was a 4 year-old yelling at the top of his lungs that he wanted to sit up front with mommy (who was a BM). This was the child that the Bride's friend insisted she couldn't find a baby sitter for and had to either bring or drop out of the wedding.

Once his grandparents told him he couldn't sit up front with mommy, he proceeded to throw a tantrum IN THE AISLE!! Kicking, screaming, yelling, all before the bride went down. The granfather finally managed to get a hold of him and get him out.

And to top that off, there was a fussy baby in the pew behind us and the mother started breast feeding him. IN THE CHURCH.

I was in awe.

At my uncles wedding,my cousin stoodonthe pew & coverhis mom'smouthdurignthe Lord's Prayer! His father took him outside.

It is tough,b/c the parents don't want to miss the ceremony.
I guess that is why my unlce went,b/c it wans'this family, it was his wife's.

At the church where I am getting married, we were there on a regular Sunday,& it is Episcopal, so they have Sunday school & then the kids come in to the church right before Communion. So there was one pre-school aged girl who was there & she was fussing/whing - a little, not bad,and the mother went to take her outside & the preist interrupted herself & said ' she's fine, stay'

I wonder if she'd dothat during mywedding? But our youngest is 10, so there shouldn't be a problem.

The afore mentioned uncle now has 3 kids, but he had the sense to leave them in Atlanta

Crying babies have no place at an important event. They should be taken outside if they are being loud.

That would really annoy me. My FBIL got married in June & they specifially wrote on the invitations that no children were allowed. Well, a friend of the family, whose baby was 5 months old decided to bring the baby to the ceremony! The baby of course started crying and after a few minutes the mother went outside to calm her down. Some people are just so inconsiderate, but what can you do?

This would annoy me to no end.
My cousins GF id having a baby this month
and she is the type of person who would bring a newborn to church and just let the baby scream & cry. We'll see what happens.

Honey..let me tell you, you are not alone. I don't know why people bring kids to other people's wedding. If it is close family member okay, but friends...to bring a baby is a NO!!!! NO

My gf...lied to me and said, that she had car problems, that is why she and her baby which is 3 months old, her mom and husband could not make the church ceremony. But , the conventiently made the reception.

How, I know she lied, was when I spoke to her before the wedding, she was a little bit unfortable about brining a new born baby to a wedding, I did not complain..becuase I did not want her to strike out at me and loose her friendship

What is funny is that at the end of the ceremony the priest mentioned something he said he had meant to say during the ceremony but forgot cause he got 'too distracted' and it looks like he looked at DH's sister. Bravo to him!! I had to chuckle a little when he said this. I am glad I am not alone in feeling this way. Oh, I also forgot to mention that DH's other niece, our flowergirl was running back and forth between pews during the ceremony. But I guess I will leave that for another post. Am I sure I really want kids?
