HYSTERICAL:You won't believe what my mom did today....

....so she comes up to me with this big old box and she starts all serious. 'One day I knew that you would wed, so here is my wedding dress for my one and only daughter. I always hoped you would wear it' She's trying to remain all serious as I pull it out of the box. (It wasn't preserved) It's a beautiful lace gown, high neck, pearls, fitted. Very beautiful. Just not my taste and she's trying not to laugh...but she cracks up. She tells me jokingly 'So your not going to wear it...you're going to break my heart....I've saved it for 25yrs?' I tried it on and though it was pretty for it's time, I swear with the veil on I looked like the ultimate bridezilla. We both couldn't stop cracking up it was hysterical. We didn't know what was worse, the smell of clothes from the 70's or the how bad I made this beautiful dress look. My mom looked gorgeous in her wedding pictures and I made the dress look bad. I guess some things are better left in the past...right. FYI: This was an all lace dress and my mom paid $350 for it and she had 2 veils. Inflation

We did. One of just me. Another of me next to my parents wedding portrait where I prove that I am doing complete injustice to the dress. I can't wait to develop the pics. The dress really is beautiful. All of this was done spur of the moment. I was telling my mom maybe to take some pics where I'm a little more made up. I think that would be nice.`I know that she would like that. I still can't get over the price of the dress.

My friend used the lace from her mothers wedding dress for her Mantilla veil and it was beautiful!!

My mom did something so similiar to me! Her dress was the same, all lace & was about $250! She never preserved it, so it had a big brown stain down the center We were hysterical too!!

I can't wait to see pictures of you in your mom's dress!!

Awww....that's so sweet! Just an idea...if you like the lace you can have your dress remade from hers or use a piece of it for your veil.

That soudns very sweet! I used to play in my mom's hoop skirt when I was little and thought I was a princess! But her dress? If you think the smell of a dress from the 70's is bad, magine the smell of a dress from 1956? EWWWW! Mom and Dad just had their 49th wedding anniversary. G-d bless em!
