Hysterosalpingography

My Dr gave me a prescription to get this test done, and I just called LI radiology and she belted out a bunch of stuff I totally could not keep up with her,
but since I can not make the appointment until the first day of my period I figured I will get all the info then, maybe ask them to fax or email me it all written.

The gist I got was something about the morning of you have to do a warm water deusche and take a some kind (dont know what she said) enima (YUCK)
and something about no unprotected sex (I guess maybe the night before).

Oh and the appointment will be made on most likely the 6 day of menstrual cycle unless the slot is filled then go to 7th day.

If anyone has done this test and has info or advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh she also said they will take a Ept test there with you.

the girl on the phone told me I was going to have to do a warm water douche,
I know you are never supposed to douche and I never had so I dont know what to do!!

I just came back from my HSG test this afternoon.

You need to schedule the test anywhere from the 5th to 10th day of your cycle. You do not need to douche. I was told to do an enema but I didn't and I don't see the point of doing one for this test at all.

My doctor gave me an antiboitic to take before the test just to ward off any infection that might occur (its very rare that an infection happens but it is a risk). I also took 2 advils an hour before the procedure. You have to take a pregency test and sign a form stating you are not pregnent at the time of the test and you can not have sex 48 hours before the test.

The test itself wasn't too bad. It took about 15 minutes total and was just alittle uncomfortable, kinda like cramps.

The purpose is to make sure my Fallopian tubes are not blocked at all, so that the sperm and egg can meet!! and the miracle of life can happen,

I am getting it done bc we have been TTCing for almost 10 months and want to make sure everything is ok!!!

I had an HSG last month. I never heard of anyone having to douche or enema before hand. All I did was make my appointment for about 10 days after AF started. It's to see if your tubes are blocked.

I did take a pain reliever before hand and afterhand. I had a lot of cramps/pain after for about 1/2 hour but that's because I had some spasms in my left tube.

It's relatively easy and quick. I did not take a test but they told me to only have protected intercourse before hand so that the could make sure that you are not pg.

Don't you just hate when the doctor's office/nurse spout out all of this info like you know about it -- then when you ask questions they make you feel so stupid! UGH!!

I rather not douche and take enema, I wonder why some tell you too and some dont.
