I almost passed out

I almost passed out

at the doctors office today! My appt was over and I was leaving and I had to go back in to sit down because I started seeing dots and I felt my legs start to give out and then my whole body started to sweat and I thought I was going to throw up. Has this ever happened to any of you? It was so scary and I scared the bejesus out of the receptionists

Did you have fasting blood work done?

Well I drove myself home so it did pass but the nurse had to sit me in a room with a fan and a cold compress and water. I felt so bad scaring them like that! They didn't even take blood, I had my eyes checked out, the dr. used a few eye drops, maybe I had an allergic reaction?

I didn't eat and I do have finals next week so the stress level is through the roof. The same thing happened last year around this time but at least I was at work

It happend to my friend a couple of times, it might be slow blood sugar.

Is that like hypoglycemia (sp?)

I know exactly how you felt, I've passed out like 4 times in a doctors office. Most of the time its when I get a shot or they take blood. So now when I go they lay me flat.

You could be stressed, the weahter, if you didnt have anythign to eat, so many things could have caused it.
Just relax & drink some juice.

It feels crappy to faint. I hate it. I haven't had one of my fainting spells in like 2 years but you have nooo control over it once the dots & cotton knees start

Well you just said you didn't eat so that's why you're sugar is low.

This happens to me once in a while. You can get low blood sugar from not eating -- not necessarily hypoglycemia.

Stress, being tired, not eating usually plays a part in it. It also happens to me right before I get a migraine -- its like a warning system!

that has happened to me before.....if you see the spots...SIT DOWN because youre about to pass out! Once you see the spots thats usually a pretty good indicator that you are going to faint. Did you have blood work done or anything scary??

I know exactly how you felt......it's happened to me.. and it was a combination of a few things when it happened.. STRESS....... and i didn't eat.... so yea i feel your pain! feel better

I passed out visiting my fh's family last weekend. his gramma is in the hospital. i felt horrible all day sunday. I have no idea why it happened it is very scary. you were brave to drive home. i ate every 2 hours and drank gingerale after it happened. i have been trying to do anything to prevent it from happening again.

No blood work, I started feeling it when I was leaving and thought I'd be able to make it to the car but once I got in the elevator is when my legs started to give and I went back in to the dr's office because if I was going to faint I wanted to do it where I can get immediate medical attention, lol.
