where do i go to get a marriage liscence and do we have to bring anything

We got our marriage license in Smithtown, it was pretty easy.

You might want to hurry on your passport, they take a while to come in, I think ours took 6 weeks to get here.

I don't want to worry you but I don't know if you have enough time to do the passport by mail. I believe it takes 6 - 8 weeks by mail. I think I would go into the city and get it on the spot, just to be safe. Is it a brand new one or a renewal? Just double check that you have enough time to wait for it by mail.

As for the license, we got ours at Long Beach (less wait) and all we needed was our driver's licenses but I would call before you go to double check what you need to bring.

Also, I think you need to know what you are going to do about your name (changing it, hyphenating, etc) before you go, so just double check that too when you call.

For the passport, you can request expedited service. WHen you do that, you pay an additional fee and should receive it within 2 weeks. US Department of State
