Maybe it's just a bad day. But I wish we had never gotten involved with this whole thing. The money is totally freaking me out right now. When we booked, we were in a great financial position. Since then, things have slipped a bit - not a lot, but enough for me to wonder why on earth we are getting married at the most expensive location out there. Although, I have to say, we got Oheka for a GREAT price. It's just that everything else is so high. After tons of research on the flowers, I am coming to the conclusion that they are just going to cost a ton of money. There are too many rooms in Oheka that need flowers. I just have to accept it. My FFIL gave us money towards them and now I feel this pressure to have amazing flowers. But I am sure you girls can imagine the cost. No matter where I go I am coming between $5000-$7000. And the dj, photographer, ceremony music - not to mention things I havent' even considered yet - veil, shoes, wedding bands, favors, oh GOD! I am so sorry. I hope my negativity today didnt' bring any happy planners down. I guess I needed to vent. I know I'll feel better tomorrow. And I haven't lost focus on the importance of the day - not yet anyway. Well - thanks for listening. Sometimes just typing like crazy gets the worry out!

Re: I am crying....
I know how you feel, i lost my job in the middle of the planning... this is partly the reason for me not wanting to have another 'big ceremony' was the stressing over costs of this and that..you will get through this and have a beautiful wedding, no matter how many flowers and what kind they are.. maybe the book bridal bargains can help you out..i dont know who wrote it but i saw it at a the book store in Roosevelt Field... You can get favors cheap and they dont have to look cheap.. can you have your dj play the ceremony music? i know in my church the soloist is like 70.00 and the organist is 70.00..thats just a thought.. and the veil if you go to patchouge floral ( i went there and my ssil got hers there, the headpiece was 37.00 and the viel was 40.00 they sew it together i think for 30.00...and shoes, i got my shoes at gabbys for 27.00 and they are kenneth cole..there are many ways to cut costs.. and the flowers, maybe if you fill your rooms with cheaper flowers and fillers and the table pieces simple (sometimes i think the simppler the more elegant) and maybe have your girls carry two or three callalillys tied in a ribbon rather than a big bouquet can be cheaper.. again only a thought...hope im not rambling...it will be beatuiful, dont worry.. try to keep your sprits up and one thing to look foward to is being called MRS.xxx.. when i hear it i still get a smile on my face

Re: I am crying....
Everyone feels this way sometimes!! No matter how little your wedding costs or how much you make (assuming your not a millionaire) - this is only normal.
A wedding is a big expense. Its okay to be a little worried or doubtful.

Re: I am crying....
We all go thru it. THere are times when I look at all we have spent and is about to spend and wonder why I ever agree to this But then I look at it and say I would look back with regret if I did not do it this way. I hope you spirits pick up. Definitley look in to ways that you can cut cost on things that are less expensive or that are not as important to you.
Take care and we don't mind you venting we all have our day

Re: I am crying....
Have you tried Burton's for your flowers? If not, you should. Also, consider not getting flowers everywhere. I mean, do in-season floral arrangement. No need to go crazy since the Castle looks so beautiful anyway. Have only hand-tied bouquets for your girls, nothing crazy. You do not need huge casscases and centerpieces to have a beautiful reception site. Also, consider having your FMIL go with you to the florist so she can see for herself what it will cost. But I think Burton's can really help you. We ALL feel this way, no matter what our budgets are. I am waiting for the sky to open and money to drop into our laps. but until then I bring my lunch often, skip my weekly manicures (and my nails look like I have been doing that too), and try to use my coupons. Plus we are going to make our airconditioner last another summer if my fiance has to blow cold air into it using our fan Somehow it will work out.

Re: I am crying....
Trust me, I know how you feel. We started planning our wedding Feb. 2001, and a couple of months later, me and both sets of our parents lost our jobs. I have yet to find something FT, my dad has a horrible job that doesn't even pay the bills, so they have to sell their house now, and my FFIL has yet to find work also. So, now our wedding is in 2.5 months, and we have no idea where the money for the wedding is going to come from. None of this was suppose to happen!!! Everything was great, and then WHAM!!! It all went to BEEP! So, we've had to change a lot of our wedding plans so try to save as much money as possible, but I don't know! My parents are planning on paying for the wedding with the money they get from the house, but in return, we have to pay them back! So, to start off our marriage life together, we're even further in debt! We can't win! Anyway, good luck, everything will hopefully work out for all of us!

Re: I am crying....
I too lost my job a few months ago too, and planning this wedding can sometimes get you just fed up, believe me I know! but if thats how you are feeling honestly walk away for a little bit, go to the beach, take a walk.... no wedding planning at all for a little while, it may make you able to clear your head. Plus you have all of us to help you find bargains!
Do a search on tight budget or ways to save money I'm sure you'll find some helpful tips.

Re: I am crying....
I understand what it must be like to decorate Oheka...You could always think about doing only centerpieces...and the staircase...that will keep prices down...the library is beautiful on its own...
Also ask if there is an event the day before...Maybe they can leave the arrangement in the staircase?
Go for small centerpieces and smal lbouquets...sometimes simple is more ellegant than ornate...
feel better...

Re: I am crying....
Cheer up! Everything will work out, you'll see. I also have days when I feel like I am throwing away $20,000 or so and should be saving it for a house someday. But, like others have said, I would probably regret NOT having this wedding. Anyway, PLEASE do not spend $5000-$7000 on flowers! They die within days...it's just not worth it. Simple elegance is better, especially at a place like Oheka Castle! You don't need to decorate each room. You can definitely cut costs in that area. FYI: I am only spending around $1500 total for flowers (all roses) and I have a large bridal party and about 15 table centerpieces. I am doing candles and flowers floating in glass bowls with rose petals on the table for only $20 per table. There are hundreds of other ideas out there....and don't forget, everyone will be focusing on YOU and not worrying about whether or not you have flowers in the bathroom!
