DH and I are in the process of buying a new home, and I have no IDEA how to even begin decorating or furnishing it. The house is new, so we never saw it w. furniture in it to get any layout ideas...all I see when I am there are LOTS of space and cream/white walls I am hoping that I am not the only decorating-challenged person out there, and that some of you will have successful tips for how I can (basically) get a clue. Aside from watching trading spaces, the closest I have gotten to decorating is framing some Monet posters for our apartment

Don't worry. It will come to you! I got SO many ideas over in the paint section of Home Depot. They had all of these little cards near the paint sample cards that have decorating ideas, and how to use colors, and use colors that work together. I took every single little pamphlet even if I didn't love the colors- just to look over and see the suggestions. That's how I picked my kitchen sceme!
but what I have been doing is watching hgtv...looking through magazines and looking online...
do little by little as well...one project at a time...

I'm like you, fortunately DH is more like Vern from TS
I think it sort of comes to you. You find one thing you love - sofa, table, accessorie and start to build around it.

I am definately with you! I am horrible with it! I dont know what colors go together, what fabrics, what looks good and what doesnt! It drives me nuts! Dh is pretty good with it but my mom is even better so she helps me a lot. I think my mom should have been an interior designer herself so thank goodness I have her.
I try to build around my couches now but its still hard for me. I have a tendancy to mix things...like modern looks with country style..I stink at it!
