I am DREADING Thanksgiving

I am DREADING Thanksgiving

isn't that so sad? Well I can no longer eat dairy or fried food or food that is too fatty or anything tomato based cause not to be gross but it gives me an extreme stomach ache and diarrhea (cha cha cha ). Anywho I agreed that Thanksgiving could be DH's holiday a long time ago and so we are going to his aunt's house. Plus no turkey. I am just so nervous that :

1) His aunt will make something 'just for me' as is so often the case (cause I don't eat any meat) and it will be something that will make me ill and I will have to refuse it (I told Dh to explain my restrictions, but people always seem to have a hard time understanding)

2) Everyone will ask me why I am not eating anything (people pry and want details which are not dinner appropriate)

3) I will get sick and need to use the restroom...repeatedly. How embarrasing and it is a small house....with thin walls

Sorry to gross anyone out but I am just feeling sad cause I always loved my Torfurkey and Thanksgiving, but now I am just DREADING it.

anywho end of my pity partay!

I feel you dear.

Question, because I'm nosey. Are you a vegetarian due to your dietary restrictions or have you always not eaten meat?

I know that was extremely obnoxious, but I was curious.

my 'favorite' moment ever was when I went to a friend's house to eat in HS. Her mom made pasta with sauce. I said ' is it meat sauce, cause I don't eat meat' and her mom said no. I then get my plate and take a look at the sauce, and it is CLEARLY meat sauce. I say 'there is meat in this sauce' and her mom says 'oh, well i took out the big pieces'

I then went home to eat, and she looked at me like I had too heads and was being needy. Stupid biatch

Not obnoxious! I haven't eaten meat since I was 14, but my 'other' dietary restrictions are a lovely new occurance that started last winter and have progressively gotten worse. Thus why I currently live on Chai tea, luna bars and fruit peels - they are guaranteed delicious with no evil side effects.

I think we may share some of the evil side effects of earlier said bad foods.

I have had so many of those moments. Gotta love it. People are hilarious.

The thing is I never ask anyone to make special arrangements for me or DH. We are super happy to bring our own food. But people take such offense. As if it's only meat from their home I will not eat or something.

My mother did that to a bf I had in high school. He skipped the turkey but she neglected to mention the sausage in the stuffing.

I'm sorry about the food stuff. I've got a laundry list of 'do not eat' things too. People become more understanding when they suffer too, but for some reason they always seem to scoff at vegetarians. I don't get it.

This bugs me to no end. Does it matter? Doesn't it make it easier for you if I bring something that I can eat?

I already told DH to tell her we are bringing Tofurkey. It is a Suzbride Thanksgiving tradition I will not go without. His aunt is a chef though - so I am hoping she doesn't get offended. I just want Tofurkey and cranberry sauce and call it a day!

I feel your pain. I also have not eaten any meat, chicken or poultry for 17 years.

It is so hard going to peoples houses for dinner b/c I ALWAYS need to explain why.. bla bla bla...

I just want to eat what I want

Thanksgiving though is may favorite b/c I LOVE veggies!

Good Luck and if it comes to it bring your own food!

My MIL does this. And every time we eat there, we need ot discuss the non meat eating issue. Every time. 3 years. Every time.
Also, they never wait for me or us to arrive before they start eating. Just wanted to throw that in there. Give you a glimpse at the type of people we're dealing with here.

Suz- when people start asking questions, I always find it best to overinform. that make steh questions stop.
ie-
Annoying diner #1: 'Lauren, you don't eat meat?'
Me: 'No, it gives me diareah and makes me fart uncontrollably.'
DH: 'She don't eat the meat, but she sure likes the bone'.

OR
AD#1: You don't eat ANY meat, Lauren?'
Me: No- I think it's awful and inhumane. I judgge all of you for your meat eating habits. I think you are all going to helll.'
Then I proceed to hand out photos of slaughter houses.
DH: 'She eats Italian sausage'

Sometimes I won't even wait, and I will start asking people, as they serve themselves turkey-
me:' Wow, Kimberly, you eat MEAT? WHY?'
