my housemate just made a comment because his girlfriend found a flea on my dog. my FH was like ' oh man' bc we've been bombing the house, bathing her with anti flea bath, using the medication and everything and she'll be ok for a few days and then theyre back...its been this way for a month...and the housemate was like 'oh man?? she's been jumping and laying on all the furniture in the house with her fleas for a month, oh man???' ITS MY MOTHER EFFING FURNITURE AND I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. IF MY FLEA BITTEN DOG WANTS TO JUMP ON MY COUCH OR MY FURNITURE ITS MY MOTHER EFFING PROBLEM...NOT HIS...MAYBE I'LL JUST TAKE ALL MY FURNITURE OUT OF THIS HOUSE AND LEAVE THEM WITH NOTHING AND SEE HOW THEY LIKE THAT! I can't stand living with other people. I'm effing MISERABLE!

i think this housemate has a huge issue with you. didn't this happen once before with your dog pooping on the floor? didn't it get blown way out of proportion????

Poor puppy I dont blame you for being upset...it is annoying!!! What's next for you guys to remedy the problem?? Sounds like you've done almost everything you can! I hope everything gets better!

Wow I would be heated to. On another note, did you ever try Frontline. It worked wonders on my cat and works for a couple of months.

i'd be super pissed if i were you too.
does your housemate or your housemate's gf or anyone have a pet that could have fleas? Sometimes flea problems don't go away b/c the dog being treated isn't the pet that's initially infested.
frontline has usually worked with our animals.

what a pita!! Let them move out if they dont like it!!
Try advantage or frontline. My sisters cat just had fleas so they treated both the cat and our family dog and they are both flea free now.

I would be irritated with your housemate too, commenting to you 'oh man' isn't gonna solve the problem, and its not like you've been sitting there doing nothing about it. Keep the dog. Get rid of the roomate.

so after i posted this FH and I got into a HUGE fight. I threatened to leave. and we wont out to the car and talked. FH was crying I was crying and then we realized 'why, AGAIN are WE fighting over a dumb comment HE made...while he's inside playing wii' so FH and I are fine but i haven't spoken a word to my housemate...I think i might hit him if i do. what pisses me off most is if it wasn't for his girlfriend being a neat freak...nothing in their area would be cleaned coz he certainly wouldn't do it...so who is he to make comments. AND when their cat came downstairs it pissed and shat in my kitchen...but they didn't even know that because i didn't ***** n moan about it...i just cleaned it up and that was that.I ordered frontline and am waiting for it to come but we are taking her to the groomer today for a flea dip.

i dont mean to be a jerk - but if someone elses dog (this is coming from a dog owner) infested my house with fleas id be pretty pissed too - not for nothing fleas are disgusting and its not like this only happened to you one time.....maybe you can bring your dog to the vet to have the fleas taken care of - and in the meantime have an exterminator come in and spray or something....its not nice that your roomate is yelling at you guys BUT he does live there too - and if i was paying to live at a place and my roomates dog was making it dirty with fleas i would flip out too - so i think you should cut him some slack.....maybe there is more to the situation than just the fleas but if my house had fleas in it because of someone elses dog im pretty sure id be flipping out too.....so maybe you can be a little more understanding towards your roommate and work things out?

thats the thing...the fleas aren't on any of the furniture in this house. He made the comment when my dog was sitting in his girlfriends lap...but nobody told her to put my dog there. and like i said we have bombed the house, I've sat there with tweezers plucking anything i saw and killing it, I bathe her regularly with flea shampoo and use the medication...i bought a flea collar but took it off because i heard its not good for dogs. I tried everything but the flea dip because i don't have it in my budget to take my dog to a vet. but there are no fleas on any of the furniture and if i see her get on the couch i take her down and vacuum and spray it down or she's sitting on FH or on a pillow on the couch
ETA: and I am gonna take my dog for the flea dip and to a vet...but the moneys gotta be pulled from somewhere...so whatever it costs is coming from the wedding account. I'm paying for a mortgage and a wedding...even the smallest amt of money can throw our whole budget off.

i gotcha......does this guy have a vendetta against your dog? maybe that is it? if thats the case well he better get over it!!!

well, she's at the groomers getting a flea bath and grooming right now. I'm gonna use the same spray i used in the house and spray the grass where she pees outside. i figure the grass is dying already anyway and its all natural so it can't harm the environment too badly.
I have been vacuuming, sweeping and mopping like a madwoman this morning...please pray this groomer puts this to an end.

i know that in florida there are fleas in the grass by where my mom lives so she is always really careful b/c they have 2 dogs.....in staten island we never even saw a flea.....so i guess it just depends on where you live...hopefully since winter is coming all the fleas will evacuate

i know! she's 5 yrs old and never had fleas...and now she's had em for a month str8!!! it's insane. when i lived in valley stream she never got fleas...i move a few towns over to baldwin and she gets fleas! we have a neighbor with a big dog...maybe the dog has fleas and some transfer between the dog and the grass and my dog picks em up when she pees or poops? she likes going to the neighbors side of our property line to pee for some reason.

ETS: have you tried RX meds from the vet? We use them on Bruno and have never had a problem.

is the other dog a dog that always stays outside? maybe that dog does have fleas and thats why they are always finding their way to your dog .....its the flea mystery!!
