I am getting married in 11 months and have no desire to look at dresses.

. I hate the way I look I really wanted to lose weight but I havent yet And I hate my arms so I want some kind of a sleeve that will cover at least the uper half of my arm dont care about my shoulders. Every dress I see in Magazines are strapless. thats whats in I love those dresses definetly dont have the confidence to wear one though. im so sad.

I am getting this dress, but i am adding 3/4 length sleeves to it, becaus i don't like my arms,a dn I could never get them into the shape they need to be in with out plasic surgery, or living at the gym.

First off

Everyone is unhappy with their body but I'm sure you are beautiful!

A new look I've seen is the 3/4 length sleeve - I THINK IT'S SO SOPHISTICATED! You might want to look into those - the dresses sheild the bad parts but look just so wonderful! A bride on here had one - I forget which.

I know how you feel...I'm hoping that I will keep up with going to the gym so I can feel better about going to try on dresses. My date is probably in Feb 2005 so I have some time.
I'd like to see more magazines show dresses with sleeves for those of us who are 'arm conscious' Whatever you decide to wear, I'm sure you'll look fabulous in

I feel the same way and I'm getting married in 8 months and I know I need to pick something soon! It's not a body image thing necessarily, but I have been so unenthusiastic about most of the dresses I've tried on. It's true...all of the dresses in the magazines seem to be strapless, and I don't want to wear strapless because I think I'd feel naked. Everyone says I'm going to know my dress is 'the one' the minute I put it on...but I'm still waiting for that. To top it off...the one dress I actually really liked in a magazine I can't locate anywhere so far. I know this is not of much help, but I just wanted to let you know someone else feels like you do. There are plenty of dresses that will flatter you! What about off the shoulder with little cap sleeves. I think it's a real pretty look and hides the area you are unhappy with. Off the shoulder also makes hips look slimmer which is my area of concern.
But really, no one will look at a bride and think, gee her butt looks huge! They'll be thinking how happy you look, how in love, and how beautiful.

I hear ya. I am not lovin' my arms either and I do like sleeveless dresses but I need to work out big time to get them into shape.

If you are plus size, check out www.palomablanca.com and click on the Diva collection. There is one dress with sleeves.
It's georgeous!

And......www.bonnybridals.com - there's one dress that has long sheer sleeves that end in 'bell style' , yet they also come with short sleeves and both are detachable so depending on how you are feeling you can have long, short, or sleeveless!!

Don't despair, instead of looking in the magazines (I know how you feel I get sad looking at all the superthin models too) go to a bridal store...you might get inspired then

Thanks guys i feel a little better knowing that some people feel my pain. I just dont want to look I think it might have something to do with the bad experince I had when I was in one of my friends weddings and she picked out this dress that was so pretty I wound up wearing it to my SR prom in H.S. put when I was having the fitings for it the lady that owned the bridal salon as I am standing on the bench and shes pinning it looks up and says to me you know these dresses are made for the 5'7 all american girl. I walked out crying what because im 4'10 and not a size 4 im not american?

Eireann, where did you see the picture of the dress that you can't locate? If you bring it to a shop, they might be able to identify the manufacturer. Also, RK Bridal in NYC has a huge selection, they might have it too.

Shelzyp. Where did u get ure dress? I was thinking maybe i could get some kind of a sleeve added to mine but, I really love these dresses for my girls and I am affraid that would look silly so its back to the drewing board for BM dresses

I am getting mine at Burton's, but I tried it on at Adrienne's in Islip - it is a Paloma Blanca Diva dress

My girls are wearing this dress, an I don't think that since i am wearing sleeves and they are not, that it will be wierd.

Also Plamoma Balanca - Diva has a bunch of dresses with sleeves, either sheer or satin.

Also on Demetrios Bridal I looked at the dresses with the sleeves to get an idea on which sleeves i want to have put on.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I hate the way I look too especially resently i have been in a funk. Bridal gowns have a magical way of making everyone look pretty. I am sure you will look beautiful. Best of Luck. Your only alternative is to go naked and that may be even worse. Although for me I know that may cut down some of my guest list. Maybe this is a good idea

I know how you feel - the first time I went to try on dresses none of them would zip up the back and they all made me look terrible! I was so depressed after leaving the salon i didn't ever want to go back. Everyone says how beautiful wedding gowns make you look - and they do - but they have to fit you.
All you have to do it find one that makes you look and feel beautiful! I promise you it's out there.
And in the meantime, I'm sending positive thoughts your way....
