I am getting really depressed!

I am getting really depressed!

Ok so that Catholic school job didn't work out and now I feel like I have NO prospects what so ever...even though I convinced myself that I didn't want it...now I have no prospects!

I feel horrible!! Going back to my old job is NOT an option...I hated that job and will not go back..

Just need to vent!

my FH..has same problem, nothing worked out this year, the market is so bad for teachers right now. He is looking into pharmaceutical sales etc...reluctantly, but it's that or move somewhere that the jobs are more abundant.

Hang in there, somthing has to work out eventually, sorry you are having so much trouble, I totally understand where you are coming from!

Someone mentioned to be that catholic schools usually scramble this time of year for staff..how about trying the queens dioceses (sp)?

Unfotuntely many schools closed this year so those teachers are filling the vacancies

I'm so sorry Kathleen! I know this must be frustrating. Is it impossible to transfer schools in the city?

Right now it is And I was lied to by my principal at the end of the year who said that she would help me and then told me to just look for vacancies

I would still call, if you haven't..I believe most of the layoffs were in brooklyn and many of the teachers were not willing to go to queens.. I would also do sublists..there are so many schools on LI desperate for subs....it may open doors for u..

Last year I was getting calls from City schools through october... I am sure there are still schools that need teachers

i'm sorry it didn't turn out for you, but I 100% believe things happen for a reason. You'll get something bigger and better. try to keep positive

Hang in there! I got a job in late late August.. and then a year later a permanent job in January!

Wow this gets me depressed! I am graduating in December...I guess I will be out of a job for a few YEARS!!!! I guess my advice is to enjoy the time you have off, and apply everywhere possible....Is it possible you guys can move? That is what we plan on doing after the wedding....

WE are definetely not moving..my FI is also a teacher and wants to stay where he is.

It is hard to find a job out here...but I don't want to leave my family and FI doesn't want to leave his family either

Don't get depressed...I've heard of people walking into schools to drop off their resume and getting an interview right away because people retire at the last possible minute to keep their benefits!
