I haven't been on the boards this past week because we have been CRAZY busy with wedding stuff. Friday was my fitting (and found out my veil is the wrong color), Saturday we saw our sample centerpiece (and FMIL went on a 20 minute a** ripping rant at the florist- ), and Sunday was my shower. I had my mom and 2 BMs help me stuff, seal, and stamp 160 invites. FH gets home and tells me his mom wants a list of all the shower gifts- which I am fine with.....and then he adds....

' and she wants the price from the registry there. If they didn't give enough- she wants to take them off the guest list'

I was speechless!!! So, my BMs cooled me down and we sent out my side on Monday, and figured he would come to his senses- NO CHANCE!!!

So now I have his side of invites at my office- to make sure they ALL go out!!!

Has anyone EVER heard of this??!?! That it is ok to invite someone to a shower....and then NOT the Wedding!?!?!?!?

His sister defends the mom by saying 'Why does Angela care- these are Mom's friends, not hers'.....that does not make is acceptable!

My sister told me even the nicest people will drive you crazy for your wedding. This is the perfect example. I don't think it is right to invite someone to the shower and not the wedding. My feeling is if you are going to torture me sitting thru a shower, you better invite me to the wedding!

I think someone needs to remind this woman that it's not about the gifts you get, but to share in a special day. Usually during this time is when you will start to see people's true colors.

i would straight up send the invitations out anyway. its soounds like you have had your hands full with this piece of work you will call your MIL in a few months over the last months of wedding planning.
You can not invite someone to the shower and then not to the wedding. it is tacky and classeless and is a breach of ettiquette. You can not judge someone by how much they give you to take that as an entry for a wedding invite.

One Word......WOW....that really takes balls to invite somoeone to the shower and then not to the wedding. I would still send out their invitation. That is just the right thing to do...
