I AM IN TROUBLE!!! - NYC teachers

I did something bad a got caught. I was working at the Saturday program and my AP ( who is a major jerk-- that is a whole nother story) caught me balancing my checkbook!!! I swear it was only for 5 minutes!!! And the kids were working!!!! He had passed buy before and everytime the students were working... I have no excuse.. I know I was wrong....

Then TODAY.. he catches me doing report cards.... BUT I was only doing one and. it was a new girl and she was in my group i was assessing her.

So now I got a letter to meet with him and bring a union rep!!!!

I am freaking out!!

My union rep, read the letter and said it is no big deal.. wost case, I will get a letter in my file.


But I am so upset!!! Has this ever happened to you?

I don't work in NYC... I teach in the suburbs but in that situation, i would admit the thing about the checkbook and apologize. Then I would explain that you were working on a report card for one of the students in the group you were with and were assessing her for comments you wanted to add on the report card.
I know you are probably freaking out because I constantly freak about stuff like that too BUT, what is done is done and there is nothing more you can do now so get some sleep and realize that the rest is out of your hands... I'm sure it will just be a slap on the wrist and you will be okay.

I agree with KPetekie's post, especailly about the report card. be apologetic regarding the checkbook but don't be a push over (I'm not saying that you are one ) and stand your ground. Get rest and good luck, let us know how it goes.

Sorry you're stressing out-I would be too, I always worry about stuff like this...try not to worry, I would admit to the checkbook thing but the report card should be all right. Tell him the truth-you were assessing her to help you for report cards. Apologize and assure him that it won't happen again and the worst they will probably do is put a letter in your file. It s*cks but it really doesn't mean too much...GL and please let us know how you are doing!!!
