I am jumping on the bandwagon and posting this under a different name...
because of lurkers i am not posting under my regular name
What would you do if you had a friend who always had to try and top you, you are having a hard time in your life or with money and you know they are better off than you but they always have to make it about them? This same friend invited other friends of yours to a party but left you out? only wanted to hang out when its convenient to her? She is a bit immature for her age and really doesnt seem to understand what life is really all about.....and that life is about things other than her and her life....how would you handle this?
we are not the best of friends...but we are friendly with some of the same people so it makes it hard to say something. I am not usualy someone who holds these feeling in but for the sake of our other friends i have....i want to say something but i am a little scared of what may come of it
what would you do if you were in my shoes??
Thanks

i know exactly what you mean....i said something once in similar situation and it cost me all of my friends and my opinion...i guess i found who are my true friends are.... i also learned that its bettter to ignor people like that around you, I know its hard, but i believe its better not to say anything and keep your knowledge to youself because you are more powerfull with what you know, keeping your friend in great ignorance...
People are different friends comes and goes, and you have to accept people for who they are even thou you dont like it sometimes....

why don't you just be honest and talk to this person? I am very up front. Stop beating around the bush and speak up.

like i said i normally dont hold back trust me! I am just worried because i will have to see her on quite a few occasions and i know if i say something its gonna get blown out of the water or shes just going to make up some lame excuse as to why she did what she did. ah well i guess ill just wait it out for now but as soon as the next thing is said i am gonna let go I think i am the most upset about the party, cause she invited people that arent as close to her as I am and left me out i just think that is wrong! and its not just any party its an important party

Personally I would confront her and ask for a straight answer. She seems to be playing a game with you and you obviously care a lot more about her than she does you.

try avoiding contact if possible!!! the less you see of her the better but if that doesn't help, speak up!!! if you say something maybe your friends will agree with you. and if they choose go get mad that you say how you feel than they aren't acting like true friends.!!!!

From your OP, it seems like you both run in the same circles but aren't close. If that is so, I'm not sure what good it would do to speak with her directly. The next time you see her, remain polite but disengaged. Don't feed into her competitive instincts; the next time she tries to best you, reply with 'How nice!' and change the subject.
If you are indeed close, the change in her behavior is recent, and you think there's something worth salvaging, yes, please approach her directly as suggested by the previous posters.

I would distance myself from that person until Ifelt comfortable enough to confront the situation without feeling over emational. No matter what you say to this person now, it wont come out right!

I would honestly stop hanging around this person, and conversing with her.
If you dont share details of your life, you wont have to hear details about her life.
DROP her like a bad habit, who care what the mutual friends think, u dont have to confront her, just cut her off, no explaination needed

I think we're all getting too old to bother with people who don't make our lives better or happier! I say f*ck her! Move on. I'm sure you have lots of great friends and she won't be missed!

I could not agree more...you kinda get to a point in life, or at least I think I did, where I just do not want to associate with people who do not add anything to my life but negativity...not worth it...sorry you have to deal with someone like this
