i am kinda scared

Nothing urgent. just typical preggie paranoia.

I just called for my AFP results. They said they were 'in' and what number can the dr. call me back at'? If all was fine wouldn't they have told me that?

And now the Dr. doesn't come in until this afternoon...she had told me when I took the test that they don't call unless there is something wrong....

this is going to be a long day.

It sounds like maybe they are only returning your call. Maybe they wouldn't be calling if it wasn't to return your call??

In some offices only the Dr. is allowed to give a patient the results.

You called them Jenny so that is not the same thing as them calling you. The reception might never give results over the phone- she might not be allowed to. So it seems reasonable for her to take a message.

Also, I know 3 people who got false positives from this test. If the test is done even a day or two early or late then the results are not accurate. They just send you for another type of test. All of my friends were crying, flipping out, trying to figure out what they were going to do, and you know what- nothing was even wrong. So you need to not freak out until you have to freak out. I know, easier said then done but you have to try. I swear that test is full of false positives.....

The same thing happened to me, and I was nervous, but it turned out that the doctor prefers to give test results himself. Your doctor may be the same way.

Try not to worry, although I know it's very hard.

And remember... most positives are FALSE with this test.

Please don't worry yourself. I had a test recently and when I called for the results they would only allow a nurse or doctor to call me back with them.

Don't worry... my doctors office had me call on an automated line. But it was the doctors voice. They only want the doctor to give you the results good or bad. Also, you called them, they didn't call you! They just want you to speak to the doctor about the results. Don't worry!!! Everything is fine!

Don't worry, you called them, not vice versa. in alot of practices only the Dr can give the resuts.
