I am making my confirmation!

I am making my confirmation!

Although I have always been raised Catholic and considered myself Catholic- I never made my Confirmation (My parents split up around that time and it always got put on the back burner)

Anywho I have to make it in order to get married in Church! At first i was nervous bc I pictured myself as the Billy Madison in Relgion class lol- but its not the case! I met with the lady from the church and there is a group for adults who are in the same boat!

So for the next few weeks I'll beone busy lady! Grad school on Mondays and Wednesdays and then Religous Instruction on Tuesday nights!

It will be an amazing experience. My cousin converted last year and there were a bunch of people in her class making their confirmation because they were getting married. I was my cousin's sponsor and it really was a great experience. You get this kind of renewed spiritual feeling. It was really great. Good luck!

Re: I am making my confirmation!

My FH is doing the same thing (even though we were told he didnt have to to get married in the church). He is the only one in the class so the woman said I can go with him! We keep joking around about how he has to wear that bow arm band and make a banner with his name on it for church and the front door. But really, its just a class and then at Easter he has to wear a suit and stand up at church and profess his faith, etc.

Congratualtions!!!! It is a great experience... in fact, I think in some ways you are at advantage because when you're older you really understand the importance of the sacrament and its implications. Good luck!

My FH had to convert, and he was the only one in his class.

I think it's actually better to do your confirmation as an adult. Do you really know at 13 that Catholisism is the right thing for you for the rest of your life? When I confirmed I wasn't aware of some of the issues that I would have with the church later once I became an adult. I'm still a proud Catholic, I just think some of the dogma is a little outdated...

You'll do fine, Callan!!

But that is amazing that you are doing it! I found that my confirmation was very special to me, and hopefully it will be to you, too!!

Tell us when you get confirmed

Re: I am making my confirmation!

I was also raised Cathlolic, baptized, did my communion but never went for my confirmation... I just kept putting it off.

Anyway, I signed up for classes back in september and in January I was finally confirmed. It felt like I accomplised another step towards my marriage and the blessing of it.
