i am new :-)

hello all. ive been lurking this site for a while, but now i need your help!

i got the contract for my hall this week! is there anything specific i should look for?
it lists the price person, minimum guarantee, price for vendor meals, kids..
it lists whats included (valet, appetizer, salad, 3 entrees, wedding cake, dessert).
it lists the fees i have to pay and when.
it lists what i have to bring it at my own cost (flowers, music, photo).

is there anything that you all think needs to be on there? i dont have it in front of me so theres prob one or two things i forgot to mention.. but if anyone has any suggestions please post!!

Just make sure your getting the most for your money... if you want wine on the tables add that.. chair covers little things that you may want you should see if it can be added...

What about gratuity and tax? Also some put a tipping fee for the Maitre D. Mine says $2-$3 dollars per guest.

it says the tax and grat percentage, but not a $$ amount cause i guess its based on final count.
my hall doesnt include chair covers (boo )

first off, welcome!! glad you stopped lurking and joined the fun!
don't know what your financial situation is, but if you're able to pay cash - a lot of places will wave the tax. a good question to ask with any vendor. we are lucky that my parents are paying - and they saving a HUGE chunk of change by paying cash. also, if you get a few extras from your RH, a lot of times they will work on prices with you. like, we are getting the viennesse table, chair covers and purchasing our favors from them - so they are bringing down the prices on all the extras for us. good luck!

The tax is 8.625% plus usually 18% 'serving charge' they like to call it.

This way, when you are close to your final number, you can figure out an estimate cost.

Also, be careful who the gratuities cover. I know I have to tip my Mat. D. Separately, but everyone else is covered.
