I am officially a 2007 bride!

Original post by MrsQ-in2007

Hi everyone! A friend recommended this site and I've been scouring through info since I got engaged on Oct. 15th. (Great info everyone!) We decided we wanted to get married this time next year and we settled on two dates we liked (Friday the 12th or Saturday the 20th of October). We quickly realized that Saturday evening was out of our budget and that if we had the option for same cost for Saturday daytime or Friday night, we'd much prefer Fri. night.

Unfortunately, MANY of the places I called to inquire about were booked for most of October! I always heard about brides and grooms planning weddings a year or so in advance, but I didn't think October would already be mostly booked! Turns out October is one of the prime wedding months!?!?!!! Wow, never knew that!

Long story short (well, long story a bit shorter), in the last two weeks we phone interviewed a ton of places and visited seven places - and we settled on the 7th and last place we saw.......

CHATEAU BRIAND!

We loved that it's so different from any of the other places we saw and other places where our friends had their receptions. I know the modern/art deco look is not for everyone, but we loved that it fit our young, fun loving, nighttime look, etc. I canNOT believe we actually booked it! AND, they had the Friday date we wanted. They had the Saturday we wanted too, but for it to be within our budget, we would have had to chose a Saturday in November AND it would still have been more per person.

Our second choices were Jericho Terrace and Fox Hollow, with JT being a bit higher up, but there was something about both places that just didn't 100% click with us although the BM's we met with were amazing and the places are very very nice.

I'm still in shock that we actually chose a place and have a date. YAY!!!!! Hopefully my nature of doubting will not get the best of me.

I have a ton of info - or so it seems - about all the places we went and called, including pricing for that time period, if anyone is interested. Honestly, when we had the tour of Chateau Briand, my fiance and I turned to each other and whispered how it would be WAY out of our price range - but it wasn't, so never assume!
