I am overwhelmed Re: flowers & Chateau Briand &...
I have been to a few florists. I have 4 more to go. Everytime I leave one, I come up with another idea. Now my ideas are all confusing me! What I really wanted is coming out to be too expensive. I don't want to spend that much money on flowers. Even though I am already over budget for flowers.
Of course last night I get a phone call from one of my favorites I visited, and I don't know if this is a sales ploy to get me to book or just a real 'courtesy' call but I was told they had other people in mind for my date and that really depressed me. Anyway, I will see the other appts I have made. I know that if it was meant for us to book with this florist it will happen. If its meant to be its meant to be. Fine.
Sorry for the distress but I am kind of lost now. I keep switching from color schemes, types of flowers, arrangements (high or low) AGH!!!!

For those that have been to Chateau Briand affairs, HONESTLY what would you think would look better in the rooms, high or low pieces, candles no candles, lots of vibrant colors (keep in mind my color is cranberry and cream). Our reception is in the Leonardo room.
Thank you for listening to me.

If I were you I would book the florist you feel will do a good job, and worry about the rest later. florist usually dont want to go over every detail until a month or so before the wedding. IMO

Re: I am overwhelmed Re: flowers & Chateau Briand &...
Wanda, have you checked out the Scotto's in-house florist? We used them for our Westbury Manor wedding last year and were very happy. Prices were reasonable, the designer was a doll to work with. I was overwhelmed with making flower decisions, she came up with some creative and beautiful ideas that were well within my budget.Downside is they don't deliver, so if you are getting married outside of the CB, you'll have to make arrangements to pick up.
The CB is such a beautiful hall, you don't need to go crazy with flowers!
Good luck!!

Jenn I saw Jack & Rose. Jack was the one that called. He does phenomenal work. The one thing I am DEF. staying away from are the high centerpieces with a candelabra. I want something different..
T Doris showed me a beautiful piece, but it was kind of $$. What you just mentioned is very similar to what she showed me. And I do like it. But I am still hmmm on it. See what I am talking about. I can't make up my mind.

Wanda- love ya girl
I have not been to CB but based on the pics I have seen of it, I know that it is a very fancy and beautiful place. You really do not need to go crazy over the flowers. Less is definetely more.
I really liked your idea about having candles all over the place. That would look amazing.
Shamma gave me a great idea for my centerpieces.
I have low centerpieces, roses and lillies in an 8 inch bubble vase, She suggested I do long tapers on each side of the vase. Had I not purchased votives I would have considered doing that.
Hopefully Shamma will read this and post a pic.

Re: I am overwhelmed Re: flowers & Chateau Briand &...
Hi again,The inhouse florist for the Scotto halls is called Distinctive Designs. They have floral designers for each of their places. These are the people who decorate the lobby, restaurant, bars, etc.
We were always impressed by the flowers in the lobby areas of the WM, so we were happy to use the person who did those arrangements. There was a nice 'flow' b/w our wedding flowers and the flowers at the rest of the WM. The designer knew the room very well and had lots of great ideas.
Your banquet manager should be able to put you in touch with Distinctive Designs.
Hey, it's worth a look!
Happy planning!!

Re: I am overwhelmed Re: flowers & Chateau Briand &...
My advice is to go with the florist you are most comfortable with and book them. You can always change your mind about the flowers and the exactly look of your arrangements up until the month before your wedding. I know I did like 20 times. Unless your getting exotic flowers or flowers out of season your price shouldn't fluctuate that much either way.I went from an all rose wedding to an english garden theme to topiaries back to half roses half spring flowers and my prices all stayed around the same. As long as your florist is good anything he/she will do will look great.
Good luck!!!

I have the Normandy room and the room is very dark so I am going with light colored roses high candelabras and candles.. Have you tried their house florist? I am going to use Claudio from Colonial Florist.

I think everyone has something that you change your mind on many times, for me it was the photographer- I am less than 3 months away and STILL obsessing over the pictures, where we will take them, etc. I am sure you will find something that is beautiful and exactly what you wanted, its hard not to get overwhelmed with all the choices we have
BTW, my florist told us that roses are the least expensive flower you can get, as they are so common. We saved money by going with all rose centerpieces.

hmichick - you're right about roses, they are the cheapest wedding flower b/c they're grown and shipped in bulk.I agree with everyone that said to stick with the florist you feel the most comfortable with!

Princess I mentioned above I am seeing Colonial on Saturday.
I do agree to an extent roses are cheap. How can people sell a dozen roses outside of Penn St. for $5?
But when you do Black Magic or Nicole roses, I know these are 'special' or whatever the excuse I have been given...
blah, blah, blah...
I will make my decision by next week. I hope.
