not for anything related to me, but for one of my BM's. She is invited to a wedding out in Montauk in the fall (not getting specific here bc the bride may lurk) and just called to reserve her room where the room block is........... ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
$400 per night!
Whattheeeeffffkkkk! I swear I am SO angry on her behalf. What bride thinks that's OK? Who reserves a block at $400 per night? I know its a fancy place, and I know her wedding is going to be top notch bc she is one of 'those types' but to drag down your guests like that?
Maybe I am alone here but I swear to god I would get a cab at the end of the night and find a cheaper option somewhere nearby.

That is outlandish and very thoughtless on the part of the bride.
I would probably stay somewhere else or just not drink and drive home.

Robin, I said to her 'so dont drink and go home' but she lives all the way out in western nassau, so I can see why she would want to stay.
Oh and she is single so I suggested she NOT bring a date, bc then her gift has to be bigger. I dont even think she should write a check with that hotel cost.
Some people have such nerve!! Here I am feeling kinda guilty that my room block will prob be $159 per night and then I hear this.....

Ugh what a bummer! My FH made us drive home from a wedding in Connecticut because he thought the room block was too expensive!
I think ours are going to be like $200 because we are getting married on the Jersey Shore in the summer. Every place has crazy summer rates! But, the reception is going to be low-key so people don't feel pressured to 'cover their plates.'

let me guess Gurneys or Yacht Club? We wanted to get married in Montauk but didn't because of this and a few other factors...it would be that much for people to spend the night for our wedding AND it was a 2 night minimum....no way would i EVER do that to my guests. I really don't think it's right. Stay further west if you can...even staying in Riverhead could help the drive home.

sad part is that she doesnt want to stay where no one else is staying, so I get it. She says she booked 2 nights but had to pay for 1, and will cancel the other before the event.
I am honestly upset for her, angry at that bride for being so selfish! If you are that rich then PAY for the guests accommodations!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL! Thanks for the sympathy anger. I cant believe how upset I got for her, but really it's SO WRONG! I told her to park at my place in Suffolk and get a town car to drive her in and back, bc that has to cost less than $400.
She is also going to look at local motels, but deep down I know she wants to be where the party is, and I can understand that. Shame on that bride, really.

Honestly that should count as their gift. I would just look for a local marriot or something local to that. so rude though!
