Just got an email from my FMIL saying that she heard my FFIL has no intention of attending the engagement party. Long story....he doesnt like me...for stupid reasons...and bottom line is he is a terrible person. Regardless, my parents invited him out of respect for my FH. If he doesnt at least have the courtsey of respondin 'no' I seriously may have something to say. I truly believe my FH now needs to step up and confront his Dad on this behavior. He's not only disrespected me for the last few months...but now is disrespecting my parents. Am I being too dramatic? Honest opinions please. I hate this man so much...I cant be reasonable.

Re: I am so annoyed
In the words of the Breakfast Club (paraphrased):
'Maybe your FFIL and my FFIL should go bowling some time.'
My FFIL had the decency to attend our 'celebration BBQ' but he did nothing but sit with his new wife and did not mingle. Could give three craps less about our wedding and complains to me about what a waste of money it is.
That being said... give it some time see if he RSVPs. If he doesn't... talk to FH before you say anything... that man is STILL his father. Let FH handle it... if he doesn't handle it well and there are still issues you'll have to confront FFIL as a couple if need be.

Thanks. I totally agree. My parents think I am insane and need to let it be. But I really dont think I can continue trying to be nice to an evil man...while he continues to be rude...and FH just pretends nothing has happened. I know it's his Dad...but it's time to step up and put him in his place. FYI - I have had a few glasses of wine so am more feisty than usual! : )

Fabulous inlaws are a rare thing to find... Ask FH to speak to his father, bc if you do it things will be lot worse than they are now...think of the consequences of saying something before you do...

You are very right. The one time I decided to stand up for myself...it ended up alot worse. I now avoid him at all costs.

I really feel that if you should continue to take this patiently whatever this man may be to you is not to FH because he is his father. On the other hand I know is easier being said than done but you should not let this affect you because there are other things that you should be worry about as well and you'll see if you don't pay too much mind you will have an enjoyable time planning this wedding. He is sooner or later going to realize that you are FH's one and only and that he has found the right person.

Oh boy. I have to say wait and see if he does RSVP. Sometimes parents like to play these games about who said they are coming or not coming to stress you or eachother out. Example, you FH goes to his dad and confronts him and he wants to know where FH heard that from....
But good luck and hang in there. If he doesnt RSVP and it's getting too close to the date have FH speak with him.,
