Ok, So we are going for our closing on Friday, March 14th. We locked in at 5.875%, which at the time we thought was AWESOME! :) Well two weeks ago the rates dropped to 5.75%. So my loan consultant said he can give it to us with no fees (points), but he can only do it once so are we sure we want to do it. So I said yeah, I haven't seen it lower yet. So he does it. Well, today, I find out that we can get 5.50% (for no fee, if I didn't change it already last week). We can still get it but we have to pay a fee of 1/2 point! My whole mind set going into this was, I WILL NOT PAY POINTS! But I hate myself now becuase I was so hasty to change it a few weeks ago, if I would have just waited! 5.50% with no points!
I want to kill myself, I really do!

Don't beat yourself up over it.Its like getting a lottery ticket.You take a chance.At least you are still locked in at a great rate.

5.75 is still an awesome rate. You can't beat yourself up about it, it's all a gamble. Good luck on your closing...get ready to sign your name over and over and over again...which is really hard when you've just gotten a new last name (although I see you won't have to worry about that).

Holy moly, 5.75 is an incredibly great rate, and is no reason to be upset!
I paid good money to refinance to 6 two months ago. You can't wait forever, and you can't kick yourself -- theres no way to know if its going to go down or up.

Thank you girls, I knew I could count on you! My husband thinks i am nuts for getting so upset!
It is not really about the money, so to speak. I could just kick myself that I had the opportunity to lower it with no fees and I used that one opp. to lower it 1/8 of a percent! Now its so much lower. Arrggh. Ok, I will try and calm down. I am overtired too. We have been running around looking for furniture, plus packing, plus worrying about what to charge the tenant. Very stressed out.

We actually are going to keep the current person there. Unless he doesn't want to stay when we raise him (topic discussed yesterday).

Denise ... 5.75 is still a great rate! We bought with 6% and who ever thought it would get lower.

Don't beat yourself up. You could of never known and you would of really kicked yourself if you didn't lock in and the rate got higher.
