I AM SO MAD!!!!!!!!! and a question

If you saw my lovely DIY unity candle that I did last night... and by the way I also ordered the tapers and taper holders.... you'll appreciate this.

We just got back from pre-cana, and they informed us that MY CHURCH DOES NOT ALLOW UNITY CANDLE CEREMONIES!!!!!!!!!!

so what do i do with my unity candles now? any ideas?

Have it burning on your sweetheart table

thats interesting- i never thought to ask my church that question.
def. have it burning either you your cardbox or sweetheart table.

Can you have it up there on the altar for decoration maybe even if you won't light it?

Thats really odd, our catholic church allowed us but our priest did say it's not a traditional catholic thing but most do it now

Why dont they allow unity candle? Definitely do it at your reception. Have the MC make an announcement to bring the families on the dancefloor - put the candle on a table in the middle of the floor and do it there! Do it like right in the beginning. Have the DJ play some appropriate song during it - That's what I would do at least

we were going thru the ceremony logistics and the priest didn't mention it - i saw it in the 'together for life' booklet listed as an optional thing so i figured it was ok, but then the priest asked if anyone had any questions so i'm like 'yeah, candle ceremony?' and he's like oh no we don't do that here. we feel the vows are enough of a representation of the unity and that the candle thing is just repetitive and less meaningful.

OK - thats how THEY feel. What about what YOU want? It takes a whole 3 minutes!!!!!!!!! He cant make an exception - what if you express its importance to you, or tradition (say like your parents did it or some crap, and it is very meaningful to you ... lay it on real thick). If he still doesnt let you, I would just do it at the reception - like I said above. Im sorry hun.

I saw on Bridezillas (of all places) that after the ceremony during the reception they had a table where they lit up their unity candle.
