So I bought the book 'The Da Vinci Code' this past friday b/c it came well recommended. I've been reading it all weekend and was half-way through. I went to the car wash today and I took it out of the car so it wouldn't get lost and wouldn't you know I left it on the counter after I paid. I went back in a few minutes later and it was gone. The cashier said she saw the book there and saw some lady quickly put it in her bag. When I went back outside she was of course speeding off.
What is this world coming too....where people are now going around stealing books?? I was upset and started crying, then I was just really mad b/c the book was good so far.

that stinks! sometimes i wonder about people. you think you would expect her to be rushing to flag you down to give it back...espeically during this holiday season.

I really can't understand what makes a person see something that doesn't belong to them and decide in a split second that it ought to be theirs. Couldn't the book have belonged to the cashier?

Ugh.... this reminds me of something that happened last year.....
I was working a flight and this little boy (about 10) was reading the new Harry Potter book. You know, the last one that was HUGE and weighed a ton(which is also how much it cost)? Well, during take off, it must've slid from under his seat to the back of the plane. The kid asked me to help him find it, I figured it wouldn't be tough to spot, I mean- the thing's a paperweight.
I crawled all over the floor, looking for that G.D. book and damned if I couldn't find the sucker. So I made an announcement that this little boy had lost his very large, VERY expensive Harry Potter book. NOBODY rang their call button to say 'Oh, here it is...!' SOMEONE had taken this kids book off the floor and was planning to keep it for himself.
THANKFULLY the kid had written his name in it, so when one of my eagle-eyed crewmembers spotted a GROWN MAN reading the very same book she had the presence of mind to ask him if she could see the title page. There, in purple crayon was this kids name.
What an @sshole.....People NEVER cease to amaze me.... Amy

you know, she might try to find you after she reads it and sees how bad it was. kidding. i didn't like the book, and that is not the point of this tread, i know. honestly why would anyone steal a book? that would upset me too. sorry
