I am SO PANICKING!!!!!

I was supposed to finally go and order my MOH's dress and BM's dress on Thursday. My MOH has been waiting for my BM (cousin from queens) so that she wouldn't feel alone and like the last one. Well I get this e-mail from her:

Hey Bri:

I am not 100% sure that I can make it this Thursday for the dresses.

I am having a birthday party for Marc-Anthony on Saturday (just for kiddies and their parents) and I still have last minute things to do. I did not have a chance to get the kids their goody bags, order the cake and go back to the place to give her the final count. I have to take advantage of my dad coming on Thursday's to try to get these things done.

The only thing I can do is see if he can come on Wednesday. That might be asking alot of him to watch the kids 2 full days in a row.

If it is really important that we go Thursday, I will try to figure something out, but if possible, next Thursday ... DEFINITELY.

Now I might be able to move things around so that we can go next Wednesday. But if I can't then we won't be able to go until the following week (Valentine's day week.) I am getting Married JULY 10!!!!

I am so nervous about these dresses coming in on time! All of my other girls actually made the plans themselves and told me when they were planning on going- they were so helpful and have been ordered (some since NOV. and some since the first week in Jan.)

What am I going to do?

Why don't you just put it back on her and say the dress needs to be ordered by a certain date...here is the phone number..and have here make her own appointment. This way it's off your plate and she has a deadline. It doesn't take long to get measured.

And don't panic about them coming in on time...if need be, they can always be 'rush ordered' and i don't think you hit that mark yet.

I am worried that if they have to be rush ordered that there will be extra charges and I will not do that to the girls that have been ordered for a while. Here is some more correspondence between us . . .

I am not able to do next Thursday- I have prior commitments. I am concerned about timing now, since the dress place told me the dresses should really be ordered by January. I understand that you are busy for Marc Anthony's party arrangements and that is priority, so if you really can't make other arrangements, let me know and we will try to figure something else out.

I spoke to my dad this afternoon and he WILL NOT watch the kids 2 days in a row. I had said to him that I needed him either Wednesday and Thursday or Thursday and Friday and he said either or. I will try to talk to him again....

Maybe since I am the one that lives the farthest I should have been one of the first to go for the dresses.

The only thing else I can think of is maybe you want me to go on my own (not that I want to)..... I feel really bad Bri, maybe your mom can talk to my dad.

As I am typing this letter I just called my dad and left him a message on his voice mail...he doesn't even pick up the phone. I asked if he can come tomorrow so I can do the stuff for my son's party and then come back on Thursday to meet up with you..... Let's see.....

Don't worry about it. I don't want your dad to have to watch the kids two days in a row. I didn't realize when you said that you would get someone to watch the kids that you meant your dad. I didn't realize how difficult it was going to be for you to get out here. As the other girls were telling me they were available, we were just going- they were making the plans. The dress place is not answering right now, so I will call them tomorrow. I have things to do all next week, so we wouldn't be able to go until the week after next. If the dress shop says this is going to be a problem in regards to timing, then we will figure something out. (Worse case scenario, maybe you could just call your measurements in and place your deposit over the phone, which would really be a last resort.) I will let you know after I speak to the dress shop.

My reply:

I didn't think you were blaming me, I just feel so bad about all of this- you know me! Your dad is going to be really annoyed if he feels backed into a corner - I don't want to do that Kris. It will all work out fine. Please, Please don't get into anything with your father over this, it is really not worth it. I am sure that if I can move things around for next Wednesday (Feb. 9) that we can go then (as long as you can.) Seriously, it's only a week.

Thanks for reassuring me that I still have time. The dress place had told me that I should be fine as long as the dresses were ordered by January, so I started panicking!!!

Bri, I am getting married the week before you and just put in the order FINALLY today, so it's basically the same as you waiting until next week. Don't panic. You still have plenty of time. I would definitely be up her arse if she is lolly gagging to order her dress, but don't panick

If I were in your shoes, I think I would have gone with the majority of the girls and then go with this other BM the day she is available. I was just a BM in a wedding party and we all went at different times for measurements and to order it. The bride to be went with us for the ordering part and when the dresses arrived and it was time for fittings, some of us got together and went together and others went on their own. Sometimes it's really hard to get everyone at the same time due to the different schedules. I am glad things worked out for you.

Sounds like it worked out great! In case she is unable to make it at the last minute, then she needs to do it soon. Better to get the majority ordered and skip the added rush expense for everyone else if that becomes a factor.

I completely understand. I went ballistic on my last two bms and wound up laying out $ for one of their dresses just so I could get the order in at the very last moment before rush charges would start to kick in.

ETA: Glad it all worked out in the end!

Don't stress!!! My sister still doesn't have her dress and I'm getting married the week after. It will happen; its just frustrating

Yea, I completely agree with that. The pressure shouldn't be on you and if she goes and it told she needs to put a rush order on it, well, then thats on her....

Don't worry, things will work out. She sounds like someone who will definately get it done for you.

And definately, you have plenty of time. We just ordered our dress, last Friday, for May wedding. They still think I have time. I didn't have to pay to rush orders or anything.
