I am so sick of explaining why we want to rent now!!!

We were going to buy a co-op or something but we didn't really see anything so instead of rushing into it, we decided to wait. Also, I really didn't want the added stress of buying a house or co-op. And I wanted to be able to put all of my attention on buying something which I can't do right now. Last Friday our real estate agent called us and said that she had a house for rent in the area we wanted very cheap. I went to look at it and it is perfect. We find out Thursday if we have it

Everyone I tell argue's with me about renting. No one can see how excited we are. They took away all of my excitement. I am so sick of explaining why we decided to rent. Thank you for letting me vent

Allison I totally agree. Home ownership is a lot of work, and we're not ready for that yet. I want to enjoy being a newlywed and learning how to live together, etc. In the long run, owning is better, but it has to be the right time. Try not to let others bother you. I'm with you!!

Thanks Kate I want to be able to enjoy being married and get used to living with Chris. I don't need the added stress Some people can handle it. I know I can't!

Its funny, because we are buying but so many people looked at me like I had 3 heads when I told them this! I felt like everyone thought we were Nuts for buying while planning the wedding instead of renting for alittle while and then lookin for a house after we were married!

Just ignore and enjoy it with your FH!!!

I know it's frustrating, and I'm sure they're only saying what they are saying because they want the best for you...but you have to make the decision that is right for YOU and not them!

we aren't buying right now. We are renting. We are doing this because I think the market is in a state of transition. Any purchase we made right now wouldn't be long term- it would only be for 2-3 years. I am not willing to take the risk of buying a co-of or condo at very high prices and possibly lose money on the deal.. People say, 'oh that won't happen'.. But I am still a firm believer that 1) nothing goes up forever and 2) what goes up must come down and 3) there is historical proof that the housing market has fluctuated many times since I've been on this Earth.

I'm confident we are doing the right thing for us. I know when we buy, it will be for atleast 10+ years.

Don't let them get to you. People who think buying is right for everyone doesn't know everything b/c it isn't true. Renting isn't throwing money away... many people in NYC NEVER own a thing their whole life? Does that mean they have been throwing their money away? Of course- that's just an overly emotional and overly used saying.

Say, 'thanks for the advice, how about them Yankees..'

Beachgirl is absolutely right! You have to do what's right for you!

I'm sorry that other people are raining on your happiness...but they don't know what's best for you, only you do!
