I am so upset!

Last night I was putting all our collectibles and photos in our new china curio, and when I went to get the BEAUTIFUL Waterford Toasting flutes out of the box, ONE WAS SHATTERED!!!!!!

I started hysterical crying, and was completely inconsolable for an hour.

FMIL bought them for us when she WENT to Ireland this summer, and I kept them in the box the whole time so they wouldn't get broken. I even said we wouldn't bring them to the wedding because I would never forgive myself if something happened to them.

FI called his mom and told her what happened and she said she would call Waterford and tell them it got broken when they were shipped over, so we'll see. And they also got lost on the way over too, so they had to ship a second set.

But the thing is, I have no idea how it broke! You know when you have a set of something and you always only unwrap just one to show people? This was the one that never got unwrapped, so we don't even know if we ever checked it!

Sorry so long, I just knew only you guys would understand. Everyone else just says, 'oh, we will replace it.' Yeah I know, but, you know....

It was probably broken when it arrived.

These 'fine' things are so hard to take care of!

I had a set of double old fashioned glassed from my crystal pattern. The double old fashioned had been discontinued, so I got it dirt cheap. But, I was SO careful with them because I knew they couldn't be replaced.

Then, when we FINALLY moved into our new home and I was unpacking...smash! I put one on top of another (like I have seen my MIL do with hers SO MANY times) but mine couldn't take the weight.

OH was I upset! Especially because it was MY fault!

That was smart not taking them to the wedding hall....

I used to work for a catering hall for years... there was definately more than one occassion where the toasting flutes broke and our manager didn't tell the bride or groom... he just sent one of us out to go find a replacement... and the replacement was not always the exact same quality!!

I'm sure that they will be able to replace it. It'll be okay I understand why you're upset though.

I'm sorry but don't worry - I'm sure it wan't your fault and I Can't imagine them not sending you another. Espeically since they lost a set once already.

I understand how upset you are. At our new years party, we used our Hoya toasting flutes that my MIL bought for my bridal shower. One of them broke in my hand and I was hysterical! I know that it's just an object and replaceable, but it's so upsetting when it happens.

I hope that you get a replacement soon!
