I am so upset about how expensive everything is

I finally sat down and realized how expensive everythign is that i want - and just realized that we cant afford a lot of things - just really upset - i feel like such a spoiled brat right now and i probably am being really unreasonable- but i am such a perfectionist about things, - and I got my hopes up for some things and just had them fall now- - just venting - thanks for listening

You are not spoiled, you want your dream wedding. That is not being spoiled...that is being a bride.

Now, what is it that is too expensive...whatever it is can be found/made cheaper!!

I say make anything you can if you are crafty. There are plenty of things that I have seen that are much too expensive for me, so I make them and they come out perfect because you get exactly what you want.

I just get my hopes set on really expensive things - i need to find invites that are less expensive - I actually think i have - just hard when you have something set in yoour mind fo three months and then have to change it and go through my list and cross out anything that isnt necessary - basically replan a wedding that i have been planning in my head and on paper for the past two years -

We havent booked vendors yet so its fine - we can save money that way -

I'm right there with you...I want my dream wedding...but I HAVE to do it on $12000 or less. People don't think I can do it...but I am determined! They think I'm crazy. However, I think that as long as the place is beautiful, the food is great, the entertainment is good...people won't be able to tell where I skimped...and cut a few corners. Good luck...it can be done!

I am sure that many of us know what you are feeling, I know I do! I am budgeting everything from dress, to tips, to the stupidest thing that adds up.

Just prioritize what you gotta have, want, need, and can truely do without.

What is your budget on invites? This is the area where you can really save money but still make a great impression. My invites were 600 total, and I still get compliments on how elegant and beautiful they were. The fancy wrapping and frills and bows are pretty, but the extra money is just not necessary....it's what it says that's important!

There are lots of ways to save money and still have the wedding you dreamed of. If you can be flexible with your date,the hall should be able to work with a better price. Also, you can get invitations for a reasonable price if you shop around. You have to think of what is most important to you and what you can cut back on.
For example: you may be willing to pay X amount for a photographer because that is most important but you are willing to cut costs with invitations or flowers. Some halls will provide the centerpieces for you and that can save you lots of money.
You may opt for one limo instead of having two or more.

You can still have your dream wedding....just keep searching and negotiate with your vendors. I found the same invitations that I wanted online and saved $1000 compared to the store price. For our wedding, photos and video were very important and so we we spent $$ on this but for all others, limos, flowers, etc...we simpified and saved $$.

I agree with what everyone has said. You can always negotiate with vendors and get a price to come down. Try making some of the things you really like, they will probably come out better than if you would have bought them!

Thanks girls! Just needed to vent - i know it is doable - we actuallyt have our hall and have a good deal - (hence the Jan wedding) - i do need to prioritize - my budget isnt too bad - i just was planning for a $60K wedding and just realized that really insane!

you have a lot of time still...think of what you want to do and this winter pick up sale items that you need for next year....


also pick our brains...post what you want and ask how you can do it cheaper...theres always a way!!!

You certainly are NOT alone. I agree with the other girls said. If you know people who can make things or know other people who know people who can help, call in the favors. What I'm doing which is also helping is I'm starting to buy the 'little' things that can add up at the end and I'm putting them away, like our unity candle, tapers, memorial candle, place card holders..... I also put $20 on my wedding band already and now I have alot of time to pay it off, when that's all paid I'll put that away too.

everything can be done on a budget and still come out beautifully... as one girl mentioned, things like unity candle, cake set topper etc can be bought ahead of time, and stored away, so it doesnt seem like so much all at once...
i have found it effective to have an excel program. list EVERYTHING you plan to spend towards, then in the next collumn the estimated amount, and have to total at the bottom of it.

You'll be fine....you have such a long engagement....plenty of time to save. Where there's a will there's away when it comes to weddings.
