I am soo excited.....

that in 12 days I will be trying on wedding gowns for the first time!!

I can't believe I'm getting married!!!!

bring any undergarments that you think you may want to wear under the dress..

strapless bra, shaper, etc...It will be a better time if you can see how it looks with all that even though most of the bridal salons have that stuff you probably wanna wear your own... Also, look for ideas before you go in terms of style so your consultant isn't pulling MAD dresses.

1- Its better to be REALLY SURE about the things you DO NOT want. Because there could be things that you thought would look GREAT on you, but then just don't. So be more open minded about that, but if you don't want lace up to your neck with gloves to match, STICK TO THAT!!!

2- AT THE SAME TIME it is REALLY smart to venture out and try things that you never thought that you would like on you, or that would look good on you.

3-be sure to add a grain or 10 of salt to some peoples opinions. If someone does not like you in a dress that you love while you are standing in a bridal salon, that will not be the case on your wedding day.

4-wear a little bit of make up. WHen I try on fancy dresses, or get my hair done and I have like, no makeup on, I almost feel silly and it makes me think 'this doesn't look right.'

5- have fun. without telling the people you are with, try on something TOTALLY ridiculous...

and mostly importantly i think

6- think of him, and what he will think of the dress. This is your dress, yeah, but you are walking towards him in it, you know?

I tell everyone the same thing....I wish someone would have told me this

Walk in there with an idea of what you like, but be open to suggestion.....try to bond with the person you're working with, it makes the process so much more fun

Bring plenty of water with you, and a granola bar. I averaged about 2.5 hours in each place I went, and taking those heavy gowns off is really exhausting

But most of all HAVE FUN!!

I know more of what I don't want in the dress. (for me its ball gown, sheath) I'm leaning more towards your basic or modified A-line.

sigh...I LOVED going with my sisters and friends when they were shopping for their dresses...its pretty much the most fun ever! But the consultants didn't like me. Since I have 3 sisters, I know all the moves to get the girls into and out of dresses, adn how to work the clips, and how to say 'um, no we won't be trying that one on.' lol. I have gotten my fair share of dirty looks!! And I am thinking 'listen lady, I am going all the work, but you still get the commision!!'

I went last night for my first time, and learned there is no shyness. I am overweight, and totally forgot someone has to help put the dress on you. So if you are shy, throw that out the window! Just like going to a GYN, they've seen it all!

1. Set your budget and stick to it, do not try on a dress that is out of budget! Let them know before they pick anything out.

2. I went in with a few pictures of lacy wedding dresses, well I have learned that lace and me don't look good together! So don't be disappointed when your 'dream' dress doesn't work with you.

3. Be very open, try on anything. Even if you don't like the look on the hanger, still try it.

4. bring a camera, if they let you. At Village Bridal in Babylon, where I went, they allow cameras, they leave the tags on the dresses too with size, price, name and style #.

5. they fit me in corsette, so if you don't have something, they should have it.

6. bring 2 honest people with you. I had 2 different friends, and both gave different opinions. And have fun!

YAYYYYYYYY!!!! How exciting!!! My advice to you would be to keep an open mind and try on EVERYTHING!!! try on dresses you dont like when u first look at them and try on styles you dont like because these dresses look so diff on you than on a hanger or in a magazine I picked a dress that I didnt even want to give a second look to... Gina (LaBellaVita) has the best saying 'The dress comes to life when you put it on' Shes so right!! Also bring a strapless bra and wear underwear that you dont mind anyone else seeing you in since you're gonna need help getting into the dresses! most of all have FUN and TAKE PICS!!!!!

I am going to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. I have my mom and two sisters going. Luckily we all are pretty similar taste. I have faith in my sisters to tell me the truth and agree with me if I really fall in love with something.

Oh...my heart is going crazy. Wish I could just go now.

Does anyone know when the next G2G is? I have not been to one yet, but would love to meet some of you. This forum has been such a help and all of you are wonderful!!
