I am sooooo sad

My sister got engaged just 2 months ago today....and her future father-in-law passed away this morning. He just retired last year (he's 65) and I guess he fell into this severe depression because he felt so worthless. He was a major work-a-holic, and when he retired, he just didn't know what to do with himself...and he wanted to die. Well, he went from 250lbs to less than 100lbs in the past 2 months and caught pneumonia last week. He finally succumbed this morning. This was the most horrible death I have ever seen. The poor family is beside themselves with grief, as is my sister. This man had so much to live for...both of his sons are getting married next year, him and his wife were planning to travel the world...

I guess the only lesson to be learned from this is to always remember to put your family and friends first, before your job. I would never want to see anyone go this way. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

I am sooo sorry you, your sister, and your FBIL have to go through this. You will be in my thoughts and prayers during this particularly tough time. Please accept my deepest condolensces. Go give your FH a big hug and kiss.

Melissa,
I just lost my FFIL in May, and I know how they must feel. He too had just retired (was only 54). He died because of cancer, but still had so much to live for. It does make you realize though what is most important in life. Send my condolences to your sister and your FBIL's family. I am truly sorry.

Thank you all. Tomorrow I have to make the 6 hour drive back to LI...this will make 4 weekends in a row. Oh well. I truly appreciate everyone's kindness and prayers.

that is so sad, I am so sorry melissa
arent you also studying for the bar now??? You definetly dont need this stress now, i know I flip out from minor things going wrong b/c of studying so i cant even imagine having something like this happen now so close to the wedding and the bar exam
