I am sufferring!!!

I am torn, I want to get a playmate for my tic tac, she is a 1 year old baby beagle. I want to get a male smaller dog for her, but right now my living situation does not call for that . I try to walk tic tac at least 2x a day. But, I always feel she is so lonely.

DH works alot, and does not help much with taking care of tic tac. I preety much am stuck with taking care of her. I know beagles have deep sad brown eyes, but they are defintely working on me tonight.

What do I do People with 2 dogs tell me what exactly do you go through? Thanks

to be honest, for me, i feel two dogs IS easier than one!

its easier to train a second dog as well...

i feel like i got my second one FOR my first one! its like i didnt even get her for me, i got her for him!!! at least thats the way they act.
they LOVE one another... i dont feel bad leaving them alone. they keep one another company while we're gone and they really love each other.
dont get me wrong, having my first little guy was fun and he got TONS of love... but i think hes happier having his siter around. and she likes him too.

its so cute, when she gets excited... really excited... she licks his ears like crazy! its so weird.... when i say 'Lukin!' in an excited voice she starts to lick his ears as to say 'shes talking to you! shes talking to you!'

i HIGHLY recommend it! totally... i dont think youd regret it at all!

i cant imagine NOT having more than one dog from now on!

has TicTac ever played with other dogs? can you tell if she is the alpha or beta?...

and when you DO get your new baby (at least i hope you do!) have them meet on a nuetral territory....

Waaa, waaaa, wasss . Good and truthfull advice. I won't lie, I do feel like I am stuck with all the responsibility for taking care of tic tac. But, I want her to be happy.

Lolita-at what age were your dogs when you got them. Did you get them together?. I would defintely go for the opposite sex.

Tic tac constanly follows me around the house with her teddy bears, then if I ignore her if I am busy she would shove it in my lap, and cry so sweetly for me to give attention & time to her. O, one time, when she met a another puppy on the street, she went right after a baby male-(pit bull/mixed). She is also friends with a (2 year old female Shizz zu-). They were pouncing and carrying on, she absolutely loved other dogs who are small.

We have an 8yr old golden retriever (this was my DH's dog), a 10 yr old choc lab (we adopted him from a shelter together two years ago) and my mutt, Hershey who is 13 at the end of this week.

They all get along fine and I think they are 'company' for each other, but they do not *play* together. Maybe it's their ages when they all came together, I don't know.

I don't think it's easier to have more than one ... like this morning DH is sick so instead of him letting them out & giving them vitamins and me feeding them, I had to do it all. And I don't have to wait for just one to go or eat, gotta wait for all three.

I love my dogs like they are my children but they are work and a responsibility.

Something else to consider about more than one dog, now when we go away, we need to pay for a pet sitter. When each of us only had one dog, we could get someone to watch ONE dog ...


My final thought, if your DH isn't interested in helping out with the one dog, what does he think of a second??

no i didnt get them together... i got my 1st, male, miniature pinscher in Oct 2002.... then i got my 2nd, female, chihuahua, June 2003. so almost a year apart... less actually.


i do agree that maybe its not the best idea for you to get another one if you feel overwhelemed with the first one, but maybe another dog caan give her the attention she needs.

Right at this point, I thought about the little argument I had with DH, about taking tic tac out for a little walk. He snapped and said, that I want him to do everything. That is when I looked at him and said, we are not getting a second dog . I felt bad, but tippy tic tac can be a handful, so for now, I have taken the idea out of my head.

I will look at you guys pet pics and just think to myself of what it would be like to have another.

I want another dog too but right now I am not ready for another. Maybe one day I will get another. I am going to wait a while though. I hope things get better for you!

Yes, Just today, DH saw all new pups walking around the neigborhood with their owners, and tic tac went crazy, like she wanted to break out from the fence to play. Dh now wants to wake up early and go looking at shelters for a friend for her. I don't know, I defintely think it is a bad idea at this moment. .
